Mary, what terrible news about your grandson. I agree that someone has to step in at this point. If the wife wants to stay in an abusive relationship that's one thing (sad though) but when CHILD is being hurt then INTERVENTION has to take place!!!! And WOW for you!!!!! Carrot sticks!!!!! Thats awesome compared to what you could have eaten all day long. Give yourself a pat on the back!!!! Laurie

Hi everybody ! Saturday started out going to Weigh****chers. I gained .4 lb. But wasn't too bummed about it. We ate steamed shrimp for dinner Fri. nt. and I knew with all the salt and spices it might show up on the scale. Took a long drive with dh and stopped at several yard sales. My Saturday addiction after my ww mtgs. He got a skill saw for $3. and was delighted. Church yard sales are the BEST cuz the people there are not attatched to the items and are open to negotiations. I got a really beautiful nature scene with a huge whitetail buck for $3.. Hubby's passion and a deer clock for $1. so after dh helps me hang the mirrirs in the TV room I will hang the clock and deer pic - fair nuff'. We got some terrible news Sat. about a precious grandchild who is handicapped. His step-father is abusing him. This man has a violent temper and has hurt our daughter many times ( but she will not press chgs ) but is now turning his wrath on this dear child. If you are a praying person please pray for this child. We got up yesterday morning and I was so upset about my grandchild, I was beside myself. Even tho the pastor had talked Sat. eve about not focussing on the wind and waves but trusting and focussing on the Lord. It was easier Sat. nt. But I had a horrible nightmare before I woke Sun am and it was exactly like the situation at hand only worse. I was terribly jarred. I asked dh to take me to get a load of mulch. Thinking if I worked my but off it would keep me too busy to worry and let my thoughts run wild. I put almost the whole truckload around by 11am ( by myself). Was sore and tired afterward but the physical work helped the mental stress. Firstborn dtr called and said they would be by in the later afternoon with the 4 little red-headed grandkids. I put on a roast and made the favorite home made foods. They've been on the road for 2 wks and were sick of restaurant food. Had a wonderful visit with them and gave the kids the teddy bears I had been collecting for them. One got named Boomer one is Lily and one is Brewster and one is pondering the name for the fluffy black bear. My food was good in spite of the stress and anxiety and fear for the grandchild. * I ate alot of raw carrots yesterday and I'll tell ya it helps to eat crunchy carrots when you are pissed at someone ( "resident evil" son in law !!! ) BTW the law has been contacted < AGAIN , in the case of the child but you'd be amazed at how little they will do without an eyewitness ( willing to testify) ! Someone I spoke to yesterday however is preparing to step in legally . Please don't forget to pray. Thanks, Mary

Hi Jan, Just read your post and am sorry about the news. I am praying for your Dad and that he gets excellent care and treatment. I am also praying for you and your family . When one family member is ill everyone in the family is deeply affected. Sounds like you are very anxious. Like Kathy and Lori said. Hold on and try to wait till all the tests and diagnosis is in. There are such wonderful treatments available today so there is much reason to hope. Thanks for letting us know and sharing your feelings. We are standing with you Jan. Mary

We must have been posting at the same time! I'm hanging out a little late this morning so I can take Holden to the bus stop... My weekend was good - pretty non-eventful. Saturday I took Liv to the Johnny Appleseed festival - sort of a fall festival with crafts and pioneers and Indians and stuff. Did pretty well, didn't eat a bunch of crap - just some homemade veggie soup and some ham and beans. Knew enough to stay away from "fair food" but I pretty much just grazed all weekend on junk - peanuts/raisins, some chips, crackers, etc... Not a very good weekend where that's concerned. Yesterday we just hung out - read a magazine, did some grocery shopping, made tacos for dinner. Not very exciting....

Topic: Morning, Maysters!
Morning all, I'm just killing some time before I go to work. It's pouring here and Holden came home last night - hate to make him walk to the bus stop in the rain, especially since I haven't gotten him a rain coat or jacket or anything, yet, so I'm going to drive him to the bus stop... Had a good weekend, although my eating was for the birds.... Actually, it was for the horses - I ate like one... Just a lot of snacking, munching, grazing type stuff.... Sigh. Just when I think I'm doing well... Have class tonight so I'll check in later. Have a great day!

What a quiet weekend here on the Maysters board. Where did you all go??? What did you do???? Did you eat well? or did you fall off the wagon???? Time to fess up!!! (for GOOD accountability reasons, not to get flamed; that the job of the Main board) lol Friday night football was awesome. I brought a protein bar with me (see I planned ahead) and bought some water there. Our guys won, but honestly I think Cass City out played us - somehow we just scored more then they did. Saturday was a noneventful day really. I was kind of ticked at dh all day. Sometimes i really wish God hadn't made men and women soooooo different. He says, I never talk to him - I say, yes I do, you just never LISTEN!!!! hahaha I ate good Saturday, although right now I really don't remember what. I just know I stayed away from the junk!! Oh yes, I made that carmel apple salad - man it was sooo good !!! Out of the seven of us only one child didn't like it and she said it was because she didn't like peanuts. Sunday was a very eventful day. MY dh get gout in his foot. Well today between home and church he got it sooooo bad that he was about to throw up from the pain. So I ended up taking him to ER. (nothing to eat there, let me tell you) After a couple of hours they got him drugged up and sent him home. He's in a LOT of pain. Extra strength viccodin and two other anti inflamatories he's now taking. So I babied him all day long. Kind of hard to be mad at someone who's sick and in pain. My eatting was all good food on Sunday. I had a wonderful chicken salad sandwich with no bread. It was HUGE though. I was able to bring the rest home and eat it for dinner. (I don't usually eat left overs) Now the kids are getting ready for school. DH is off work for at least 3 days. He can't even put his shoe on, so I'm sure he couldn't climb in his semi and drive for hours on end. But of course, that changes my day drastically. So, I've got no real expectation for today at all, but I'm planning on being careful with what I eat today. Laurie

I have no doubt that you are getting a great shape. You have to be with all that working out! Glad there are other measures of success for you beyond the scale. Your surgeon's acknowledgement and people's comments are fabulous! Kathy

Kathy, I am happy I can inspire someone! I have to tell you all this exercising has really paid off. I'm getting a pretty good shape. People tell me that all the time. It has to be the exercise since my weight is not changing! Another good thing is that my surgeon is very pleased with me. Which helps a lot! Thanks for your always being there for words of encouragement! Lori

Hey, Lori... You definintely came to mind when I wrote that. Just didn't wanna name names, ya know. LOL! All I know is that you are someone who has worked incredibly hard day-in, day-out through these long, long 16 months. You were such an inspiration to me and so many others on this board and I'm sure on the Over 50 board too. Your workouts are amazing and your dedication to them has been unbelievable. You are probably one of the healthiest and fittest people I know and I mean that sincerely. Yet your goal weight which is certainly very, very realistic seems quite elusive. It would drive anyone crazy! I"m glad you are still forging ahead. Wouldn't expect otherwise of you. Any surgeon would consider your oss to be a great success having lost 80% of your excess weight. That exceeds the expected loss which is 70% of excess, I believe. The good news is that I have seen folks that are 2 or more years op who still lose. One gal in my support group was stable for over a year and then whammo lost 10-15 lbs. She was concerned because she couldn't understand it but everything was fine with her labs and medical check-up. You remain our exercise inspiration! Kathy
