Topic: Sunday: Watchya Eatin?
I know there's really no one around, but I'm bored, and I'm REALLY wanting to eat something even though I'm not really hungry, so I thought I'd post and maybe kill some time...
B - slice of sf banana bread with nsa pb
L - small bowl of chili and 1/2 piece of sf cornbread
D - don't know, maybe some broiled fish, we're going to dinner with my dad
Right - I know, it doesn't seem like much compared to what I usually eat, but MAN, yesterday was such a bad day, I'm really trying to get a wrap on it... It wouldn't be so bad if anything GOOD for me sounded GOOD but all I really want is something junky like bread or chips... I oughta just throw the damn banana bread away...
So, here I sit, drinking a gallon of tea, trying to stay away from the kitchen... At least I'm getting my fluids in, right?
Liv and I went to the zoo for a while this morning, so I got some walking in. It was nice - we went right when they opened, the weather was cool and all the animals were bright eyed and bushy-tailed. So much nicer when the weather is mild...

I just followed the recipe on the back of the cornmeal cannister to be honest - all purpose flour, Splenda (instead of sugar), etc. The only thing I did differently was accidental - it calls for 2 egg whites or 1 whole egg and I wasn't paying attention and used 2 whole eggs.... Figured it would ruin it but tried it anyway. It actually came out quite nicely - pretty light, for cornbread, although next time I think I'll try a little more Splenda.

"health-ify" it
I love that term. It's too bad that we have to do that though. I wish more standard cookbooks were more 'healthified' for us already!!
Hey how do you make your corn bread?? My dh tried to make me some sf corn bread (it's the ONLY thing to eat with chili) but it came out way tooooo dry for me to eat.

Yeah, I'm going to switch to wheat flour next time, I think. I typically take a standard recipe and then one item at a time, health-ify it...
If I try to switch everything over at once and it comes out not-so-great, I can't pinpoint what made it not-so-great, so I trade things up one at a time until I'm happy with it... I did use more Splenda and more bananas than most recipes I found called for, even though I know sometimes Splenda does goofy things to baked goods.
I'm SO amped about this fall season - baking - I LOVE IT! But, after yesterday's performance, I don't know if I can be trusted to bake all that stuff!

Mine wasn't so great either. I ended up skipping lunch because I wasn't hungry. Then for my last snack, I ate cracker and peanut butter - which means no protein drink to day at all.
Oh well, tomorrow is a new day!!!

Thanks, Becky! I make banana bread all the time and use wheat flour and a little more Splenda than the sugar the recipe calls for (the recipe that I use is from a regular cookbook). I also use light butter instead of regular butter. My hubby doesn't like nuts either so I don't ever use nuts in my recipe either.
Sometimes I'll put in semi-sweet chocolate chips in the bread (if I have any on hand) and THAT is yummy, too!!

Today turned out so good and turned SOOOO bad...
Had 2 pieces of the sf banana bread, first a small sliver, then a chunk.... had 2 pieces of sf corn bread with my chili, WITH butter
And then, on top of that, had a freaking blue bunny sf ice cream cone.. right, like sf equals calorie-free, right?

Topic: RE: New Day, New Month, New Plan!!!
Laurie,
I do encourage you to get exercise as a regular part of your day. I used to post the Gym Is Open post on this list, but, because not very many people participated I stopped. I still post it on the BMI over 50 list. There are quite a few women on that list that like to post to it. Posting it also keeps me on track. What am I gonna do, consistently post that I did not exercise??? No way. So, even if I don't feel like it, I'll drag my butt to the gym and come home and post it.
Actually, I've really grown to love exercise. I never in a million years thought that this would happen to me. Thank goodness it did! I haven't been one that has easily lost the weight. Well, the first 150 lbs came off relatively easy, but, now I've been stuck for 3 months. I really really want to lose another 40 lbs or so to get under 200. All the exercise I've done has given me a very good shape, most people don't think I've got that much to lose.
Today, I exercised 2 hours. I started about 1 year ago with walks around the neighborhood. Now I can do all kinds of weight lifting and can do 5K walks...it amazes me. A person who used to limp along with a cane...
Like the commercial says: Just do it!
You won't regret it!

Lori

Michelle,
I think I'm going to try the pickles thing as I have the salty/crunchy urges as well. Thanks for the idea.

Congratulations Angie! We all measure our "wow" moments and milestones in different ways. This is a big one!
