Topic: RE: today..... 22 months since i quit smoking!!!!
Congratulations, J!
That is truly a great accomplishment. While I was never a smoker, my family was so I watched my mom quit many years back after 40 years and my sister quit last year after 30 years (and my BIL too).
PAT ON THE BACK... a big one from me!
Congrats,
K
Topic: today..... 22 months since i quit smoking!!!!
today is my 22 month quit smoking anniversary....
I can hardly believe it. i get an 'email reminder' from the website that i used for support. you know you are succesful at something when you no longer think about how long it has been. i remember in the beginning when i used to go on the website hourly, then daily, etc etc....
i had to quit in order to have this surgery, now i dont know how i ever was a smoker!! i dont miss them . i have a lot of nervous energy though... and i know that sometimes it does wreak havoc on my stomach and the stomach acids have a terrible affect on me. So I try to relieve stress by exercise, meditation.... sometimes even crying.... or therapy..... but sometimes i just dont know?!
I just wanted to pat myself on the back.... haha...

Topic: Checking in!
Hi there, everyone! Just wanted to check in since I've been MIA for a while. From a quick glance at the posts, it looks like a lot of us have been out for a while. I'll have to do some reading to catch up on what's going on with everyone later, but for now, I just wanted to let you guys know I'm still around and doing well.
PS went fine, other than a few recovery issues which have resolved themselves. I've been busy with the kids and work and school lately as well as doing a LOT of work to my house, so I'm barely on the computer anymore, other than to check the weather and my email.
I hope you all are doing well. I'll check back soon and see what's going on.
Take care!
Topic: RE: Checking In - BUSY as usual!!

Sorry to hear you still have pain issues.
Best wishes on your TT this week. Hope all goes as easy as possible for you!

Topic: RE: Trouble losing weight.. HELP!!!
The values listed on the treadmill are averages and not exacts. If your resting heart rate is in the 40s, that is low. That would mean that you burn fat at a rate much less than the 130. Hubby and I did some metabolic testing last year and I burn fat at a heart rate in the 80s. Burning at a lower rate doesn't mean your metabolism is messed up just means you burn at lower intensities.
What are you eating each day and how many cals is it? At this far post-op, it probably is a calories in versus calories burned thing.
Good luck, Kathy

Trouble losing weight

I have been eating right and hitting the gym every day.. But I am not losing a pound. And I think I might have stumbled onto something today. I have Cardiomyopathy and Cardiomegally. I have been in and out of failure over the years. .But with the weight loss my Doc felt I could be taken off the lasix and diovan. I notice when I am on the treadmill with my heart monitor on my resting heart rate is in the 40 ish range. When I have the treadmill on max incline and hitting it for 45 mins at 5 mph, my heart rate will not go above 81. I was looking at the guide on the treadmill listing target heart rates for age groups and they list: maximum fat burn at 130 and aerobic at 148. Am I not burning fat and getting any good out of my workout since I cant get my heart rate up past 81... I am getting very depressed over this and wonder what my next step should be??? Would this at rest heart rate also slow my metabolic rate down as well. I am not gaining but sure not losing. The workouts keep my muscles toned so I know they are doing some good. But is it good enough to help with the weight loss.

Hey howdy hey!!! I'm sorry I've been out of the loop for the past many months but I am alive and well. I feel like I've missed so much!!
First, Kathy....I am thinking of you and prayers are sent your way!!! I hope you heal well, and quickly after surgery.
Becky, I'm jealous!!! Plastics!!! Good for your, I'm so happy for you.
Laurie I loved the healing story! It gave me goosebumps.
I know I left lots of you with wonderful news off but I have more catching up to do!
Things are going wonderful. We finally get moved into the new house right after Christmas....we've been waiting since the summer for it to be finished. We're still unpacking boxes...really, what's in these boxes that I need if I still have boxes in my garage???
Weight-wise I've been the same 130-133....then my daughter joined the GIrl Scouts and we started selling and EATING those cookies!!!! I'm learning to say no and trying to drink something instead.
I'd LOVE a TT and some sort of boob lift/augmentation; however, we are "thinking" of maybe, just "maybe" trying to have baby #3 in a few years. I was obese when I had the first 2 so I have no clue what a normal pregnancy might be...also, I'd fit in cuter clothes!! haha. Well we'll see.
Love and hugs to all and lots of well wishes and Happy New Year too! I'll be more faithful!!!
