Topic: RE: Laurie, how'd it go?
Hey Laurie,
That was really crappy of them. They are a huge institution and things do fall through the cracks. This is a suggestion, always call the day before to make sure they have everything they need. My mother has received soooo much treatment there, I feel I know just about every department. Yes, I know you shouldn't *have* to do that, but if it saves you some time and aggravation, it might work. My offer still stands, if you need someone to traverse the system with you, let me know.
Also, I keep a notebook for every family member that records each and every doctors visit, and what was discussed. It is small enought to fit in my purse, and I take notes either during the visit, or immediately thereafter, before I forget what was said. This has saved me so many times over the years, especially with my mother's complicated history. I started my own notebook the day I began my weight loss surgery journey.

Topic: Hi-ho hi-ho....it's off to the ER I go (again)
Once again I was back at the ER this weekend. They wanted to admit me, but I weasled my way out of that one. After a bag of IVs and IV antibiotics, I was free to go.
This started with a simple cold again. Then turned to an ear / sinus infection. I went to my PCP on Tuesday and he gave me antibiotics. I asked for liquids since last time around I didn't seem to get the benefits of the capsules and ended up in the hospital with pneumonia. Actually, I begged for a shot so that they would get into my system for sure, but PCP wouldn't go for that. By Friday night, I had lost my voice and it had moved to my glands in my throat and my chest. I was also dehydrated (again) even though I thought that I was drinking like a fish! I'm getting so frustrated with the doctors in this rinky-dink town. They all want to blame all of my problems on my gastric bypass surgery. I'm so tired of educating them all on the facts / myths of WLS.
Anyway, I'm back off of my soapbox for now. Thanks for letting me vent.

Topic: RE: 8 Week Challenge: 5 Weeks Down, 3 Weeks To Go
Hi, surgery pals. It's been ages since I posted, but not ages since I've read the board. I really need to set at least a 3 week goal, cause I've gained 20 lbs. back. My heart is broken-I never thought it would happen to me. I've traded one addiction for another-now I'm drinking beer. Bad choice, I know. I never drank before in my life until May of this year. So here is my 3 week goal: to stop drinking, period. Before I have to go to AA.
My cool reward will be to get on the scale and see at least a few pounds gone. Oh, and the other goal-to go back to Curves and start exercising. Too many excuses, so many pounds gained back.
