Topic: YIPPPEEEE!!!
At last I have entered the all great ONEderland. This morning the scale reads 199 lbs.
A total loss of 149 lbs. I was quite happy to read it and took a shower and got dressed. But when I called Hubby to tell him, the first thing he said was.."well are you in ONEderland?" and suddenly I couldn't speak and got tears in my eyes.
The last month has been rough, loosing anf gaining the same couple lbs, so close to ONEderland but not quite able to get there.
2 weeks ago I decided to keep better track of my carbs and lost 6 lbs in 4 days. Then gained 2 of them back. Then asked everyone about thier calories and have been since keeping mine under 1000 per day and lost 3 lbs in 2 days.
In all my adult life I can not remember EVER weighing less than 200 lbs

Topic: RE: Posting Menu's - helpful for others?
I am pre-op and hoping to have RNY in 2008. I like to plan ahead especially for financial aspects and having a pre-planned weekly menu really helps me currently stay on track with my financial goals. I am a creature of habit so I like to each similiar foods daily in general.
For instance my current menu looks sorta like this;
Breakfast: oatmeal
Snack: apple with peanut butter
Lunch: salad with protein on it
Snack: orange
Snack: high fiber cliff bar
Dinner: grilled chicken and rice pilaf
since I know what I will be eating, i know how much it costs for a weeks worth of food, etc..
I am curious what my post op diet menu will look like.
Can a few of you post either your weekly menu or your weekly grocery list.
Thank you,
Vicki
Topic: RE: Daily Calories
My guide says at 5.5 moths the calorie range is between 1200-1500. I am still no where near that level, but I think that is to maintain your weight.
Remember as we lose weight we are also diminishing our caloric deficit,so it takes us longer to lose the weight. I know the weight loss has slowed down for me quite a bit these past few months.
As someone mentioned above, the calories per day really varies between surgeons.

My surg said between 800-1000 right now for me. I usually come in right around 1000 or 1050. My scale aint movin' either! Don't know if I should go up or down in cals, but what I'm doing now doesn't seem to be working!

maybe you should make another appt with a dietician. i think it varies so much depending on your age and exercise.
you might just be in a blasted stall too. i only lose 1 week out of the month now. so i only weigh once a week now to keep from getting too frustrated.
good luck!

i am doing a variation of the 5 day pouchtest but i am shooting for the liquid stage for three days, then two soft protien, then two harder protien then three liquid. i'm adding fiber -sure to my protien drinks. i'm just trying to get rid of the bad carb cravings and detox my system all at once. i got to 153 dec. 1st. the other day i was 160!! then today 156. so...... yeah, not good! my goal is 130 so i must get there. i'm going to the gym today too.
anyway. that's my two cents. good luck getting the crap out of your diet!

Thanks for the input ladies...
Well I guess I must be getting too many calories??...
I am usually getting more than 1000 now and quite often over 1300...and have gone as high as 1500 on days when I eat a lot of nuts.
I recently drastically cut back on carbs and my protien is usually over 120 g for the day.
It's frustrating to see the caloires pile up when two of my meals per day consist of mostly salad.
I do Aquafit 4 times a week and the other three days I work out on my cross trainer.
Very frustrating to loose 3 lbs only to gain back two over and over again.

800-1000 plus more as I increase exercise. HOWEVER, I found even when I have strenuous exercise days, I won't lose unless I keep it at 1000. Age-related metabolism! UGH!

I just had my 7 month check up with my doc. He says between 800-1000 cals. At about 18 months out the max he wants me at is 1600 cals based upon my exercise.
