Jamie, You are one step closer to getting back in control! Curious though - why chocolate milk? Is it the only thing available in the cafeteria or do you bring it from home, or is it in a vending machine, or are you so crazy about it that you'll go to any lengths to get it? Try looking at the reason you are consuming it and then work on how you can avoid that trigger.. And keeping your blood sugar up is NOT a good enough reason because we all know there are MANY other options that have better nutritional stats - sorry, a little tough love here In addition to the other suggestions already given... how about protein bars? There are several out there that have good stats and you can carry it in your pocket without needing refrigeration. Go to a Vitamin Shoppe and read every bar! I have found the Power Crunch to be pretty tasty and have good stats too. I know how nurses take their breaks - - - they don't! But you can snack on your bar while you are charting - which is something I know you do throughout your shift... No more excuses girl - get ahold of yourself and start fresh! We're here for you - hopefully you glean even one little pearl from all the responses... (((((hugs)))))) Bekah

I order them off bariatriceating.com but I heard they will soon be available in Max Muscle stores... they are really good tasting, crunchy, and best of all - I have never had any problem tolerating them (although the Parmesean gives me heartburn every once in a while). A serving is 110 cal, 10 g protein, and I think 15 g carb - a little higher carb than I usually have but I don't get the carb coma after I eat them. I put them on top of turkey chili and it's pretty yummy! Enjoy! Bekah

I eat about 1/2 cup at a sitting. Unfortuneately it seems that I can eat more carbs than protein...know what I mean? Like, meat fills me up VERY quickly but give me some chips and salsa and I can eat like a ton! Peanut M&M's? Endless amounts! UGH! I need my hubby to go back to work so I can fill the trash can with all the 'garbage' that has entered our home over the holidays!!!!!! I know he wouldn't mind me doing it - I just feel so wasteful doing it!!!!

Yep - the trash can and sink are my best friends for eliminating temptations, too!

I have avoided alcohol since my RNY. Although I was not a drinker before. An ocassional drink with friends. So I chose to stay home by myself last night. Well I had a partial bottle of Mudslide sitting here since last New Years and decided I might just try it to see what happens.. I poured about an inch in the bottom of a glass.. added 4oz. of milk and took about 3 sips. And WOWSIE!! I got a tummy ache and head ache and felt like I was going to URP.. but I didn't. I guess I slept about 1/2 hour or so (and didn't even realize it), because the phone woke me. Sure felt better after that but poured that stuff down the drain. Rest assured that is the last drink I have..Good old tomato juice on ice for me at the Eagles with the friends. Wishing all A GOOD NEW YEAR. A new life for me and all of you I hope. Alice

Jamie, I understand completely with the low blood sugar thing. My GP had me eating 9 times a day when I first started having issures. Its hard to find a balance. A couple things I have found. GNC has a great shaker bottle that has a storage compartment in the bottom and refreezeable ice inserts. Kashi go lean bars are nice too. they have 6 grams of protien and fiber and whole grain. I love the pumpkin flax. Kraft has the prepackaged 1 oz cheese in the 2%. protien bullets are nice too. I usually take a 42 gram shot and split it up into 3. That gives you about 14 grams of protien. which is enough to keep you level. We all have stumbled. I know I have. Don't beat yourself up too much. Pick yourself up and dust yourself off and get moving again. Best of luck Pam
