RoseAnne ~ First of all... CONGRATULATIONS, your doing great!!!
Were you a "lightweight" to begin with? If so, this could explain your progress, which may I say again is FABULOUS!!! If your not already doing it, you may want to begin a food journal. I was astounded at what I was taking in all the while thinking I was eating well. I keep up with what I eat on Fitday.com I find if I don't journal I don't lose... simple as that (for me anyway)
Good Luck to ya and keep up the GREAT work!

Topic: RE: I am "NORMAL"
Congrats and you deserve to brag. You have done a tremendous job and we all know how hard it is. Even though we had this surgery, we still have to do some extra work. The pounds seem to fall off in the beginning, but then we all have to get moving and go the extra mile to keep the pounds going off. You will make it to goal!!!! Just believe!
Topic: Sad
I had surgery 7/23/03. I have lost 77lbs and I have been at a stand still since 3/1. All I want to do is to lose another 23lbs which would make 100lbs. I have only been losing about 5 lbs a month for a couple of months now. It seems that I am a slow loser. I thank God for this surgery every day but sometimes I just feel very down that I can not lose a little faster. Please if there is anyone out there in my situation please let me know I just want to know that losing 100 lbs by my year anniversary is not impossible. RoseAnne
Topic: RE: Weight loss has stoped.
Hi Sandra my name is Stephanie and I had my RNY surgery 07/03 and my weight loss has pretty much stopped too. Are you exercising? When I took the required pre-surgery class my surgeon required, the nutritionist said we'd eventually level-off unless we exercised regularly and avoided ALL calorie containing drinks, because liquid just goes right through the stomach and makes you gain weight (or just not lose it) faster than anything. My problem is that I haven't exercised hardly at all. I've lost about half my excess body weight and I don't think any more is going to come off unless I exercise. I don't know if this info is helpful to you, but maybe it's a starting place to figure out what's stopped your weight loss?
Topic: Hanging in there...but fearful.
I am doing very well, and for the most part am very happy with my weight loss. I have lost 118 pounds since surgery July 23, 2003. I had a major complication (an ulcer perforated my pouch and cause peritonitis) six weeks after surgery. The same ulcer ate a hole into my old stomach undermining the surgery. God has blessed me and healed both the ulcer and the hole without a third surgery. Here's my problem. I am now at the weight where I have historically (in the one million diets I have been on) sabotage myself. I was sexually attacked, and my fat for the past 30 years has been my protection. Has anyone else delt with this? How? I have come so far...and I don't want to lose the ground I have gained. I don't want to "borrow" trouble, but want to be ready for it if I see the signs. Suggestions needed!
Thanks!
Topic: RE: Return of Appetite
All good comments and good advice. I can only repeat what everyone else has said. The plateau is normal. The appetite return is a GOOD thing, you just have to watch WHAT you eat now. Keep a diary of what you take in every day, it's a good thing at the end of the day to sit down and look over how much food you really did eat. On days where I feel like I've totally lost control, I find that my total list of food is still what a 'normal' person might call 'slim pickins'. Eat healthy, keep up the exercise, and in good time, it will all pay off!
Topic: RE: Feeling down...Weight has STOPPED
Just hang in there. I too hit that MAJOR plateau right at 90-92 pounds. I was so incredibly frustrated for about a month. I kept walking and trying my best to eat right, and then boom, today at my weekly weigh in, down 5.5 more pounds! I was so thrilled I went shopping, tried on jeans, and found out that although I hadn't lost weight for a month, obviously my body was still shrinking... I'd dropped another size.
There's still hope! Don't get discouraged. I still have 3 sizes and about 50 pounds to go. I'm not giving up yet.

Hi Michelle, I had my surgery on July 3rd/4th but i'm only 4' 11" went from 211 now down to 120 lbs. I think for my height i'm doing ok. I wear a size 8 now was into the 12's for a long time now there baggy on me. It's still hard for me to believe i'm at this weight, but trust me i'm enjoying it just like everyone else. Your doing great i wish i was alot taller than i am but guess i will have to settle for this height. Good luck to you...

Topic: Has anyone had surg. delayed cuz psych. says you need help with binging?
Hello Y'all,
Went to my consult. and psych. said she's concerned my occasional "Binging" will be a problem after surgery. (PMS contributes big time to this) I knew she was right
(she sent me to a therapist to deal with the issues of why I do that) and it's good, especially when I read of people struggling with that AFTER surgery, but I can't help but I feel so disappointed that I must wait.
Is that something most people have to deal with and has it helped anyone that you notice a real difference after? would love to hear from anyone. (My e-mail is: [email protected] I'm not sure if they've posted it right on the site... ) --Rebecca
