Topic: Great recipes for those who have a tough time with solids!
I have some great recipes for those of us who have trouble with solids. they are high in protien and low in carbs. They are also good enough for your family. The only reason my husband didn't eat my tuna fish is because he's allergic to fish! lol

well, for those of uss that have trouble but need a little protein I found somethig i can tolerate! Get a can of hormel chili, I preffer no beans. Put 1/4 cup in a microwave safe container. Add spices if you like spicy stuff. I add a little chili powder and garlic powder. Add any kind of cheese you like. Pop it in the microwave for 30 - 40 secs. Stir it up and enjoy. If you eat a cup of that ( my pouch isn't big enough) You get 20 grams of protein depending on how much cheese you add. I eat this to satisfy my craving for beef and a chili dog or chili cheese fries. I can tolerate the beef in the chili because it is so pressurized and cooked down. Read the indredients if you want but some brands are a little graphic when explaining what they put in it.

Hi Annie, I had RNY 7/15/2003 and anything solid and I'm ill! Fat-free refried beans (Ortega) mashed mixed with cheddar cheese (dipping kind) go down fairly well a little at a time. Liquids work the best, unsweetened applesauce, whipped low-fat cottage cheese, jello, sugar-free fat-free jello pudding all go down well. But that is as "solid" as my gets right now. I battle with nausea and take meds 1 to 2x's a day for it. Also battling depression the last 3 1/2 weeks. You go girl..we can get through these "WLS times" by supporting one another!

Topic: RE: Hey all you July 2003 surgery people.....
Why hey all! It is good to catch up with everyone! My surgery date was July 14, and it was Lap RNY. I have lost 31 lbs and 24 inches! I hit a platuea for a few weeks, but seem to all of a sudden let go of that small halt, since I lost 4 lbs since yesterday morning! I am already down at least one size in my shirts. My pants size hasn't changed yet. Well, I'll try out the website! See you all there! ~Cyndi

Hey Annie, i sympathize with you in not being able to eat solids yet. I did great on liquids and soft foods like mashed potatoes and yogurt but almost everytime i try solids i end up throwing up. I can however keep down the protein bars. I eat PRIA bars and i think they are great. I wonder if i should start over like you are. Best thing about that is the weight will come off a little quicker i bet. I am 6 weeks out and down 39 lbs. I plateaued at about 4 weeks out but droped 12 lbs. just this week. And to answer your question i dont ever think any of us are floating alone. Thats whats really cool about this whole web site. Just ask and you shall recieve. Bye for now. Amy

Is there anyone here who still isn't on solid food? On my pureed diet I can have some sort of solid foods but even the tiniest bite chewed well makes me gag. my doctor has started me all over and I'm back on clear liquids. Just wondering if I'm floating alone. Annie

I had open rny on July 8 and would really like to be in touch with others from about the same time. The chat room goes so fast and they often talk about things that are not where I am at. I will try to get to that site, although I am not proficient at the computer. Here goes, if I do not make it please email me. Marianne
