We all need a winter break...
A few days back, I secured a really great deal from Louisville to Norfolk including a car for $207 through priceline (pre auction), which is 1.5 hours from Richmond where from Jan. 19-21, the music will be rocking, the bar will be open, and the feets will set me free... and I'll probably learn some.
This affair is the next in what is fast becoming a great opportunity for bariatric folks to come together, learn a small amount and PPPPAAAAARRRRRTTTTTTYYYYY.
I didn't make it to Vegas last summer but I know this is a party hardy group!!!! Please consider joining us.
I'll buy the first July babe round.
Nan, The VA. gals will be there as well as lots of others from Lexington.

Topic: RE: Protein, Calorie amounts
Linda-
I don't think too many of us watch our calories, proteins carbs daily any longer. This far out of surgery, we are going to have the same problems losing weight that everyone has-- It requires raising the bar and really buckling down. The last bit of weight is always the hardest, and our bodies have adjusted to the new diet.
Perhaps it's not my place, but can I ask, how important is that 20 pounds? I think we get greedy and focus so much on losing the weight. I myself would like to be 10-15 pounds lighter, but I have decided I am happy where I am-- I am looking great and am SOOOO much healthier and active. I am more worried about maintaining.
If however, you still want to go forward with the weight loss, I'd talk to the nutritionist and set realistic goals and time levels. I'd also invest in a personal trainer and ratchet up your exercise. That is the way to increase your metabolism. The lowest weight I reached, I reached after going on a biking exercursion (20 miles a day for a week), and I ate whatever I wanted. I am now about 5 pounds heavier, but anytime I go over that five pound mark, increasing my exercise, brings the weight right off.
My last bit of advice is to be patient. The weight is not going to melt off, so we really have to work at it now.
Hope that helps and best of luck.

Marie,
You mean you eat MORE calories and actually lose? But if you eat less, you don't? That is so weird... but explains why when I actually eat a "normal" day I lose, but if I try to watch my calories, I don't lose. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hi Linda
Welcome to the boards.....
To answer your questions.............
Calorie intake.....varies by person. You need to check with the Nutritionist. There are different calorie intakes for different reasons. For eg. Since I am still in the losing stage, my body requires 1600 calories a day. And believe me, since I have been eating that much, I have been losing. 1200 for my body is maintaining my weight. Everyone is different and there is a test that they can do to determine what you need to take in.
Protein amount.....the minimum is 60. Check with your surgeon and nutritionist. I get in about 80-100
Carbs I keep to a minimum but I do not deprive myself if I want something
Hope this helps...........
Marie

I stayed the same, but I'm happy you gained a few!! Hopefully it "sticks"

Topic: RE: OMG!! What a week!
I hope that you've had a positive week: Thanksgiving should be a time of warmth and reflection, but that may not have been possible this year for you.
I'm sharing a cyber-hug with you.
