Topic: RE: WLS and estrogen
Since this forum is so slow, I thought I'd suggest you check out the WLS in your 40's forum. It's a bit more active and you may get an answer relevant to your issue. Good luck! http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/wls_in_your_40s/

Topic: WLS and estrogen
Has anyone in their experience with WLS had the surgery throw them into perimenopause? I'm 41. I've had menopausal symptoms and been going back and forth to doctors regarding the symptoms trying to get relief. The worst of the symptoms are the constant migraines and insomnia. Any thoughts? What did you do? It took almost a month but my doctor gave me an estrogen patch and didn't run any FSH test or anything on me. I saw a gyn yesterday and she wants me off the patch for 2 weeks and then get a level. But she treated me as if I was taking her time for just migraines. I seriously doubt vaginal dryness has anything to do with headaches LOL. Please reply. Thanks. Stephanie

Hi Staci, Thanks for the welcome...I don't come to the Alaska board very much since it's so inactive. Where is everyone??? I go to the bulletin board run by Dr. Todd's office in Anchorage. Are you post-op? Take care, Melinda

Hi Cheri, Thanks for replying! I'm glad you have the Seattle option. Flying back & forth to Anchorage is probably more expensive than Seattle! We have to drive 300 miles from Valdez. We have to stay in a hotel when we go so you're fortunate to have family you can stay with. Out-of-town post-ops have to stay in town at least 10-14 days after surgery in case there are problems. I have done all my testing - although I do have to get a needle biopsy for thyroid - doc found a nodule during physical. So, that's all I have left. Have you started your testing? Let me know how it goes with you. Thanks for writing! Melinda

Topic: Anyone had surgery in Mexico??
Hi fellow Alaskans, is there anyone out there who has had WLS in Mexico? I'm going to have to self-pay, so Mexico looks like the way I might have to go. I've talked to quite a few people from the lower 48 who have had their surgery in Mexico and it went quite well. Just wondered if there are any fellow Alaskans out there who have made the trip to Mexico for their surgery and see what you're experiences have been. Thanks for all the info --Julie

Topic: Pic on Profile/ photobucket
I found this site last night and there was a post about how to add pics to profiles. I wanted to ask if the person who posted it could please send me the directions directly to my email address. Its [email protected] Also, I wanted to say thank you. I had worked on it all day, could not figure out what I was doing wrong, then it clicked. So, thanks to you and your directions I have added my picture to my profile. Melissa Smith Surgery date December 27, 2007
