Thanks for your reply Patty! I will definately tell my mom about it. Not sure that she will come, but I will try. She just headed back to Fairbanks today! They actually live in NP too! I graduated from NP highschool---the middle school now! Born and raised out there! So nice to see someone from Alaska!!! We are going to AK in August for three weeks, my husband has never been, so I'm excited to introduce him to Alaska and be his tour guide! I have a friend that went to Dr. A. too, actually met her at a support group meeting. She loves him. You've done an awesome job! Congratulations! Kim

Hi Kim, There is one surgeon in Fairbanks, but I believe he only does the RNY at this time. Everyone that I know of that was "banded", had to go outside of Alaska for their surgery. I did hear recently that the surgeons at the Alaska Bariatric Center in Anchorage were going to start doing banding soon, but I am not sure if that has happened yet. Please tell your mother about our support group that meets here in Fairbanks every Tuesday evening at 6:30 at Twisted Stitches on the Old Steese Highway (near the new Walmart). Hi Diane, There are actually two support groups here in Fairbanks. One meets every other Saturday at 10:00 am at the Snow mobile club you were referring to. The other one meets every Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm. at Twisted Stitches on the Old Steese (close to the new Walmart). I mostly attend the Tuesday evening group. I had my surgery in Mexico, but several others there had theirs with Dr Todd in Anchorage, or some have gone to different places on the west coast. We would love for you to join us anytime. Topic: Moving to Alaska...

My husband got orders to Elmendorf. I was wondering if anyone could offer me some information. I had Lap-Band surgery done in Feb. I was hoping there might be someone in Alaska...with the AGB, that could recommend a Doctor there for me for any needs that might arise. Any information would be helpful... Thanks... Caryn Word

I'm still new at this, I went to Anchorage to the Bariatric Center to see the doctor. I am quite excited. I can't wait to be on "THE LOSERS TEAM." I have done about half the test, I won't have them all complete until July 12 that is my last appointment. I know there is a support group in Fairbanks. I was told it was by or located by the snow moble fun club on lakeview behind Greer Tank. I will try to find the building tonight before I go home. Does anyone know the schedle for the meetings or a phone number I can call. I want my husband to come with me and maybe some of his concerns may be relieved. I know this is what I want. Help PlEASE!
