HI Everyone!!!! Well... I am curious to know what the procedure will be for the surgery process with Medi-Cal (Molina or IEHP)... I have been bounced around from Doc to Doc, and I am a little confused by it all. Anyone out there who has had these insurances, please let me know how successful you were.... Thanks, Pene

I have IEHP and i was approved on my first try...my PCP referred me, i attended the seminar and was accepted into my dr.'s program (Dr. Krahn) in Sanbernardino, ca. I am 6'1" and was 323 @ time of surgery, my only co-mobid was joint/knee pain.My entire process took about 9 months from start to surgery date. I was not required to show any other attempts at weightloss, or take the long extensive nutrition class (my nutrition class was a one day deal) Not sure of why you are having so much difficulty with them, but i wish you all the luck in the world~don't give up i am sure it is frustrating, but hopefully you will be approved/ Tiffany

Tiffany, Did you have to lose a lot of weight before surgery? What does IEHP stand for? I have been thinking about changing my HMO w/Medi-Cal, because I am ready for this surgery, and I can get some weight off, but I have to lose another 35 lbs before my surgery, and I have lost 18 lbs and gained it 3 times, and I am just thinking of different options, I do not want to lose my Kaiser, but I am thinking about it for my life and the life of my children. Thanks Miss Ladybug

Pene, I have Medi-Cal Kaiser. Medi-Cal pays, what requirements you have are from the HMO. I have never heard of IEHP, or maybe I don't know what it stands for. Miss Ladybug

" IEHP" stands for "Inland Empire Health Plan" I think that it would be easier for you to switch either to straight Medi-Cal or IEHP or Molina, I have heard that its a long(er) process with Kaiser. Its worth looking into!!!! The Insurance section in OH is very helpful, it just kind of gives you a heads up on what to expect your specific carrier to need prior to surgery! Pene

Thank you, I have looked at the insurance, but I didn't see where you could look at them to see what the requirements are. Maybe you could point me in the right direction? Miss Ladybug
