OMG, I hate Kaiser

What the....? See, Kaiser is not consisent. The very first time I seen my PCP I talked about WLS and he immediately referred me to the Options Class. You don't need to establish a relationship...that's bull. What you need to do is call member services and complain. If you don't get anywhere my recommendation is to ask around (especially at your local Kaiser support grp) to see what PCP is WLS friendly and switch PCP's....It's not the end. Believe me, it's possible. Check out Heather Houdson's story and she won the battle!

Hi Nikki~ I'm in the options class in Fontana Kaiser. It was a pretty easy process for me. I went to my PCP (whom I'd only seen 1-2 x before) and told him I wanted to look into the surgery and I've thought about it carefully and done my research. He gave me the referral that day. I have heard that some PCP do not EVER refer pts and you can call membership services to see what PCP will support the surgery and request to get scheduled with that Dr. Once you get your referral it's still about a year process. I've been patient and it's actually gone quicker than I thought!
