PROTEIN DRINK TO SWEET
My low carb protein shake is tooo sweet, even after adding a great deal of water and ice before blending. I can't tolerate it. I know that I am not having enough protein and I am tried and weak. Are there any suggestions that I can supplement. I am on pureed/soft foods now and I not comfortable with tyring blended tuna and chicken, it comes out like form. How gross!! Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I get them from GNC. I haven't found a protien drink yet that was "too sweet", that is my problem. The have no taste and I absolutely hate milk, so anything that is "milky" is a no go for me. You have received some very good responses, I really hope that you can find something that works for you. I ordered the Unjury flavorless protein powder the other day to mix with my food, I may try their flavored stuff if that works. Also, I notice that people are suggesting "ready to drink" protien drinks, but I thought we couldn't have those at first because of the sugar content and it may trigger dumping, so I personally have stayed away from them.
When I was on the soft food stage, I could eat cheese, cottage cheese, eggs, yogurt.....you could use the Light &Fit....it is low in carbs. I have get the 3 carb one that has no added sugar to it. That would go down super easy. I could also eat tuna or salmon....it was not bad, but make sure it is moist if you do!
I am not good on the protien this...I know some of the people around here use something called Fuzzy Naval...but I do not know where you get it. Hopefully someone will reply who drinks more protien drinks.
It gets better Shardon....just hang in there and your choices will get wider!

Thanks. My Dr did not say that I could have cheese, but I can have all of the other food items that you mentioned. I guess he forgot to mention cheese. I have been uneasy with eating much tuna and cottage cheese. I eat a part of a scrambled egg and popsicles, but know that I have to add more protein.
I also ate ricotta cheese instead of cottage cheese....it is just an Italian verison of cottage cheese and is very smooth....not those big curds. I would sometimes put a splenda in it with some cinnomim and it was GREAT!!!

Protein supplements are very individual for everyone as to what we can choke down and/or actually enjoy! For shakes I am a big fan of UNJURY. You need to order it as it is not sold in retail stores. They offer single serve sample packs and you can try those. Here it the link:

As a matter of fact we are having a taste testing of their product line at our next Inland Empire Losers meeting in two weeks (Saturday May 17th).
Another I like, and you can get today at the Vitamin Shoppe (locations everywhere!), is the carb conscious MUSCLE MILK ready to drink product line. I like the Banana Cream, Cookies and Cream and Chocolate flavors. Another that I think is OK and others really like is the WORLDWIDE ready to drink products. You can find them at Trader Joes and other places too.
I agree with Shontea on the low carb Isopure drinks but know a lot of folks don't care for them. These are also at Vitamin Shoppe. Come in heavy glass bottles so bring your muscles! LOL The fuzzy navel is a SYNTRAX Nectar flavor and very good too. They have many flavors but I only find them in the large, 2 pound canisters and you can get this at Vitamin Shoppe too. Here is their web site:

Also, you can get a nice sample pack of various protein suppliments at:

I bought this prior to surgery and used the products to figure out which I liked after surgery.
Since you are already post op, and most likely want something right away, I would suggest hitting Vitamin Shoppe and getting one or two of the different ready to drink products and see what suits you. Then you can stock up on what you like. You can order online to try some of the other items like the UNJURY.
A couple of other thoughts since I am so chatty this morning...
You are soon out from your surgery so don't be hard on yourself about getting in food or the protein supplements. That will come in time. Just do your best evey day. DO try to work on the water to make sure you don't get dehydrated. Hopefully you are getting your vitamins in as well. That and walking will get you on the road to WLS success and good health for sure!!!
Best wishes to you on your journey and hope to meet you in person soon since we live in the same area!
