Hi Val,  I am not speaking from experience because I am only 11 days out and I feel like I could truly eat anything. I would echo everyone's response and run girl run! I am so afraid of dumping I don't think I would have enough nerve at 8 weeks to even try a piece of cake...so I do admire your courage. However, I am a person that LOVES sweets so even at this early stage I know that will be my biggest challenge. Listen to those that responded with experience and just leave it alone so that  you can achieve the success you are destined for.  Shontae

Val 8 weeks out and eating cake and drinking lemonade does not sound like you are following your doctors protocal.

I am a dumper....and I dump on things quite easy....I do not eat sugar...had difficulty even before surgery.

Be careful of the slippery slope....you had this surgery to get healthy....not see how far you can push the envelope!

Best to ya! Bounce

Sweets are my downfall, girl & I wish I'd NEVER even tried them!  When I first started sampling new things, it was what a friend of mine called refrigerator roulette!  One time I would try them and be fine and the next, I'd be sick as a dog.  No one can tell you whether it will change...it may & it may not.  In a perfect world, you'd never know, but the reality is that you'll probably be faced with sweets again.  What I try to remember is that I can have them, but that moderation is key.   Good luck...it's a roller coaster of a journey!!

Val, You are playing with fire, girlfriend.  It's not worth it.  When you dump, you don't die, but you'd wished you did.  It is no fun, especially out in public (which has happened to me). Stay away from sweets.  You got to maximize you tool while you in the "window of opportunity".  This is your time to be losing!  Plus from what I have learned in my support group, you could eat something for we will say 6 months with no dumping; all of a sudden, you eat that same item, in the same amount, and you go to dumping Hell.  So the fact that you don't dump on certain things means nothing.  You can dump on cake or lemonade (or anything sweet) anytime. If you want to be successful with this, please follow your doctor's protocol. Kim
Without struggle, there is no progress.

Thank you Kim,  I was tripping, I don;t know why I even tried it.  I am pulling it back together.  Lots of water and chicken breasts.  I went to the support group meeting last night and I have been spanked !!!  I know I need to follow the rules to the T.  Thanks for your words of encouragment.   I will make this month a better one.   Val

VAL ALL I CAN SAY IS STAY AWAY FROM TESTING ANYTHING THAT YOUR NOT SUPPOSE TO OR ANYTHING THAT PUT YOU IN THE POSITION TO HAVE TO HAVE THE WLS IN THE FIRST PLACE. I HAVE NO ANSWERS FOR YOU ON WHAT HAPPENS LATER ON DOWN THE LINE FOR YOU AS WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT.  ALL I CAN SAY IS WHEN I TESTED THE SWEETS IT WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY WLS JOURNEY! I AM ALMOST 4 YEARS POST OPP AND SO VERY UPHAPPY THAT I TESTED THE SWEETS OR ANY OTHER FOOD THAT I SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD. I AM NOW TRYING TO STOP THE MADDNESS OF EATING ALL THE WRONG THINGS AGAIN AFTER A 40 POUND GAIN.  IN MY OWN OPINION THERE IS NO PIECE OF CANDY, CAKE, BREAD OR OTHER NO NO FOOD OR DRINK THAT HAS BEEN WORTH GAINING 40 POUNDS, AFTER ALL THE HARD WORK I PUT INTO IT IN THE BEGINNING.  IF I HAD IT TO DO OVER AGAIN I WOULD NEVER HAVE TRIED THE CANDY. DO YOURSELF A HUMONGOUS FAVOR AND DON'T EVEN TRY THE FOOD TO SEE IF YOU DUMP. JUST TELL YOURSELF YOU WILL BE TERRIBLE SICK   FROM THE FOOD AND LEAVE IT AT THAT. JUST THOUGHT I WOULD THROW THAT OUT THERE FOR YA AS FOOD FOR THOUGHT. TAKE CARE AND BEST OF LUCK ON YOUR WONDERFUL JOURNEY TO GOOD HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.
