Embarrassing Preop Question

My surgery is tomorrow afternoon.  I have to drink 60mL of Milk of Magnesia.  I am currently on clear liquids.  How fast will the M.O.M. work?  I am at work til 5pm and don't want any embarrassing..... eh hem.....moments at work.

 I took mine before I left for San Diego around 10 am. It was working for me by 1pm, maybe earlier. I am sure it affects people differently. I was "going" all afternoon and evening.

I had to drink 1.5 oz of PhoSoda at noon and I was on the toilet within 45 mins and I stayed on the toilet all day.

Are you so excited?  So what time is your surgery planned for now? and what time do  you have to be there.  I heard that Julias was pushed back a little.  does that mean yours is too.

Now about the MOM - it affects everyone different.  I took mine around 2 pm and I think it worked in about an hour but I can't remember that well.  I know it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be....I think that Phos soda stuff is worse from what I have heard and it works quicker.  Do you have the 2 little cups thingies to drink?  Thats what they gave me - all premeasured and everything.

Yep the t wo little ready to drink containers.  I spoke with Anne at Dr Chin's office and she says I am still on for noon. ( I am already expecting it to be much later than that)  My sis in-law is dropping me off at the hospital at 8am. to check in.

Ok then - I will definitely see you tomorrow morning....I am meeting Lori there around 7-7:30 so I will probably be there waiting for you.....are you excited? 

I am so excited.  I wish I could leave work early today.  I am having a hard time concentrating. I finally starting feeling a little hungry, but I am drinking a lot of water.

Hi, Linda!

I took the MoM at noon,  and it started working within 60-90 minutes.  I wasn't tied to the toilet all afternoon (ran some errands from 2:00 to 3:00), and the effects were not uncontrollable,   but I did make frequent (roughly hourly) visits.  I think I'm just about done now . . . I hope!

Wow I know that would be embarassing in the office more so if you have a long comute....  I dunno
