What exactly is a protein bullet and where can I purchase such a thing?

I know you can purchase them and find them on this site, but I do not exactly know where. I know a lot of people use them, I have never done so. They are convienent actually because you can just stick them in your purse!

If this is what you're thinking of, go to www.protica.com

These were my staple my first 2 months out. You get alot of protein in, in a small amount of liquid.

These are the ones I get:

http://newwhey.com/

I get them individually from Vitamin shop, Vitamin world or suplement direct. If your local store doesn't carry them, they will usually order if you ask. I like the 42G ones because I only have to drink half the "shot" at a time to get the protien. I read somewhere we don't absorb more than about 20grams at a time so half is perfect.

good luck.

I'm trying to do some price comparison here - I know that ordering online is usually cheaper than buying something in a store, but I don't want to order a case of something and then not like it. I will probably end up going to some nutrition stores around here and see what they carry. Anyway, my question for you is, how many bullets come in each case on that site? I looked but I don't see a quantity anywhere ... Unless I am just blind.

I didn't see how many were in the case either... I have never purchased from the site as I always buy indiviual ones at my local retailer. I sent you the link so you could check out the product.

Sorry I'm not much more help.

Sue

No worries - I think I'm gonna head out to the Vitamin Shoppe here in town today and see what they've got. Thank you for the info!

I am a BIG fan of the new whey bullets! They really saved me on getting protein in during my 3-12 months post op.

You can get them at the Vitamin Shoppe. They sell them individually, so its a great way to try the different flavors. My favorite was grape. And I agree with Sue. I would get the 42 gram ones because I took 2 or 3 swigs and half was gone and so was 21 grams of protein. Then I would drink the other half later in the day...quick and easy.

I will tell you that in all honesty, they are not OMG so good that you cannot wait to have another one...but it is what it is..protein that we need to have one way or another. They are best when they are cold, so I kept mine in the fridge. Some people think they are way too strong and will pour the entire shot into a bottle of water and then you have a flavored protein water to drink over several hours. You may want to try that if they are too strong for you in the beggining.

Good luck!

BIG Hugs,
Lisa

we have the same surgeon.  Mine will be the 19th of next month so I called asking questions after I read their little 4 page hand out on pre-surgery.   They told me no protein drinks.  What did they tell you?  When asked about vitamins the answer was the first post-op visit they would go over vitamins.  BTW I had already ordered the protein bullets from bariactric eating.com (sp?) becsuse of the experiences of my friends who already had WLS with another doctor.  Helga

Honestly, I don't remember ever *discussing* protein drinks with them, and I'm sure the info is in their booklet or all the papers they gave me, but I'd have to go back and read it again. I know they want us to get our protein from food and I do try ... But I really do not eat that much food and I'm worried that I am going to end up being protein deficient. I don't do protein drinks very often at all, but I do protein bars for the protein AND because they are filling and I'm at least getting some other nutrients at the same time.

BTW, best wishes for your surgery! You must be so excited! Where will you be having it done? Mine was at the Fresno Heart Hospital and everyone was incredible ... Great pre-op nurses, great anesthesiologist and OR staff, great post-op care ... And the most important part - great surgeon. :-)
