Hang in there Lisa. I am 5 days out too.  I wish I had the energy to cook homemade soup.  Right now I am taking the advise of others and just straining my favorite canned soups.  I then put the bulk of the veggies and meat into another can of soup and heat it up for my hubby.

Hi there.  I am 10 days out.  I am not cooking yet for my daughter.  Before surgery I stocked the freezer full of frozen dinners. I also got soup, boxes of mac and cheese.  She hasn't complained yet.  Yesterday I made canned cream of potato soup, and  took all the potatoes out of mine and put them into hers.  I am trying to NO****ch much TV. The food commercials are killing me.  I have to just say to myself "this won't last forever"  I will be eating healthy foods soon.  Hang in there.   I know what you mean about the soreness.  I still can't sleep in my own bed.  I have been in the recliner in the living room.  Hurts too much to try to lay flat.  But it does seem to get better every day.

Hi there:  It was hard for me to lay down as well and I think the recliner is a great idea.  I wanted to share with you that laying on my tummy almost took a year.  Also the areas that were used for the laproscopic were very sore.  To lay down (just for me) took about a year and my doc said that it was normal.  Everyone is different.  I had my surgery/new bd about 2 years ago now and don't regret it one bit.  I have lost 162 lbs and now at goal weight!!!  The trick is to maintain.  Take care, Sylvia San Francisco.

Lisa, glad to hear it went well and you are home once again.  I have been watching for your post to see that you were doing good.  Yes, I know what you mean about wanting food. I was able to switch to yogurt and runny malt o meal, man was it tasty.

I can't believe how many food commercials are on tv. When I was home that was all you saw.

Take care,
Lori

Lisa:  Many congratulations!  I would NOT ride the bike...you body is too new post op...ask you doc about that.  I live in a very small home here in San Francisco and I just used to walk back and forth in my house and then I started to walk down the corner and back and then down the street around the block....take it real easy...it's a step at a time.  I am so glad that you started walking right away.  i think the nurses are used to us.  I have my surgery done at UCSF and the nurses were awesome.  I had surgery just about 2 years ago and have lost 162 lbs and at goal weightThe time went by real fast but I took it one step at a time.  I followed the food plan to the letter.  I got somewhat frustrated on the last food plan but i hung in there.  Once I started weighing and measuring regular food I got sick the first time I ateI hated it and the nurse told me that I had eaten too much of a varity of proteins.  I think what helps me is that I keep a food journal to the letter and still do and measure out my protein and calories.  The challenging part for me was postop.  The surgery in relation to life afterwards was easy.  But I am doing great and love it.  Take care,  Sylvia

I am 3 days out and feeling pretty good.  I am sleeping in my own bed and if feels wonderful.  When I got up this morning I actually felt almost normal.  I have very little pain which I think is odd.  I do take a pain pill at night thought and that is keeping me asleep.  I woke up this morning sleeping on my tummy!  I was shocked.  I don't htink I hurt myself or at least I hopt not.  The only thing that hurts is my back and that hurt going into surgery   so nothing out of the ordianry.  I don't feel hungry and all and I am having to remind myself to sip sip sip.  I got two protein shakes down yesterday and was proud of myself  for that.  Where do you live I see your doctor is in MOdesto If you were closer I would love to walk with you.
