Update on Janel

I was down in TJ at a post op appt. with Dr. Quiroz yesterday.  Janel was there in the Operating Room Recovery undergoing an iron transfusion to try to get her hemoglobin up.  Normally nobody is allowed in that area, but Dr. Quiroz let me go in to visit her.  She is doing great and is on her way to recovery.  I told her I would let everyone know.  I didn't get to check everything out, but even with the bandages and swelling, her arms are looking really tiny.  :-)

Janel actually sent out this email and asked for it to be posted.  I hope someone can help her out.

ok i just lost this emal and am doing it all over agin so i really dont give a rip about typos because i[m MAD!!!

sorry i didn[t email eberyone the other day but i was too tired and sick and on meds. so here[s a recap:
friday surgery all went weill until that night when i started bleeding too much. went into OR where they gave me a local only and opened me up and cauterized the bleeding.......it was i think the most painful experience i'[ve ever had, i as crying.

next moring i got up to go pee...passed out. tok my blood and it was 5.8, so  internally i lost half my blood cuz i was 10.8 going in on fri. they had me in surgery for 2hours, sewing me up....they reopened me both times, so this made 3 times. i had to stay another night in the clinic. next morning elena takes my home, and i had a very restulf evening. next morning go for follow up and my hemoglobin is then lower.....5.5. so they order an iron infusion which takes 4 hours. at the end they tell me i have to spend the night again with them....i started crying, I just wanted to be at elenas. they brought me dinner and took super good care of me. i had teh nurse i just love....marta.
she calls me her baby and I call her mama.
ok, now to today...oh wait, dr q told me i had a visitor and it was a surprise....Kirsten comes into room it was soo good to see her. i was a bit high but i do remember you....thatnks for coming to see me!

i saw both dr q and dr weizen the anesthesiologits who is just the best and has a great sense of humor. dr q brought me a protein bar, and sip of coffee, and shared his morning protein drink.  dr weizen told me that before i come back tomorrow he would appreciate it if i'd comb my hair and put some lipstick on because I look bad!!!lol!!!!

my blood pressure is rising again which is good. it was 90/50, and is now 107/57. i go back tomorrow for more bloodwork and another iron transfusion. My kidney is also functioning well....i was worried about that. i have to stay here a couple more days and can[t travel until saturday. i'm bummed but know it[s best. Now for the huge favor and i feel horrible asking but i have to....when the dr asked me if i was traveling alone i told him yest.....his exact words were "are you crazy?" he said there is no way i can do that, especially fly cuz of my blood pressure, it's not safe. my favor is, can anyone come to san diego to get me? of course id pay your expenses. if you drove doen friday, you could spend the night in sd, then elena caould drive me over the border to meet you. I know this is a huge favor but I honestly do not know what to do here.

Hopefully there's someone in SD that can help, but if not, please let me know and I can come get her on Saturday!

if someone could take me from sd to magic mountain, kevin kirby or my sister can pick me up there and take me home.

I really wish there was something I could do to help you, hon.,but I am just too far north. I am sure there is someone that will be able to do this for you.

Are we talking Friday or Saturday? I can help on Friday if that is what we are talking, but Saturday I am leaving for Wi.

Thank you for the update!  I live near Janel and was wondering how she was doing.  I grew up in Agoura, went to Agoura High Class of '76.  How long have you lived there?
