Pre-Op diet

Trust me, your belly adjusts.  I've been on the "2-week liver shrink" diet for 3 weeks now with 2 to go and sometimes at lunch it just seems I have too much food.  So, I don't eat it all.  I'm not allowed to snack at all - ever.

I get a protein shake made with water, 1/4 c no fat cottage cheese and 1 slice of whole wheat bread for breakfast.  Lunch is 1 protein shake, 1 wasa-type cracker and 1 oz light cheeze and 1/2 fruit.   Dinner is 4 oz protein and a green salad with raw veggies and fat free dressing.

Hang in there.  The first week the girls at the office were kidding me they had to keep me away from small animals for fear I'd eat them!

I got grumpy just THINKING about that diet!!  Of course, since I've been on EVERY diet out there (and i was grumpy every single time!) it came as no surprise to me that it would be my immediate feeling!   As the "newcomer" I knew there would be a pre-op diet, I was just praying it wouldn't be that restrictive.  I'm sure its necessary and good for you (like THAT ever meant anything to me!  LOL) but its good to know that I won't be alone.   Hang in there!  You were a COMPLETE inspiration to me today!

LOL! Thank you so much! Well hopefully your doctor wont have such a strict pre-op diet, but if they do, I will be here for you to complain to! hahaha

Nicole-

My advice: Do the best you can with the Pre-Op diet, but don't let it rule you. If you get hungry (real hunger, not head hunger), listen to your body. And enjoy a last meal or two, I'm pretty sure the majority of us did. I think if you stick as close as possible to the Pre-Op diet, but have a few last meals, you will be absolutely fine. I know that is what I did, and I still managed to lose weight before the surgery. On another note though- try to stay away from the caffeine as much as possible before. I had a withdraw headache for about 2 days and that was nothing nice. I can't even imagine being in the hospital with that on TOP of all the other crap!

Love ya chica!!!

OHHH April, that is so what I need to hear. I am able to tell the difference between the hungers now. And now when I say I'm hungry, it really is the hunger pains. I dont think I would go and get a big mac or anything, lol. But oh what I wouldnt give for a turkey sandwhich! lol

And I have been a totally good girl about the caffeine! I quit all soda's and coffee about a month ago, just because I knew I would have the same withdraws!

I had my "last meal" 2 weeks before surgery. But a couple days before surgery I had something special, strawberry shortcake LOL.
Hang in there you'll do fine.
