Better News....
Went to the wound care nurse yesterday (Monday)...her name is Kathy. She is so awesome.
Anyway, she was very encouraged by my progress. She says I look alot better than last Friday, and my fever was gone. I had only lost .5 lbs, but she didn't seem too concerned, just said we need to watch my weight as that is a sign of me getting rid of the fluids. She redressed the wounds and said they all look good, and are a bit smaller. I had no idea how deep they were......one was 14 cm!!!! Now it's 13. And then there are 5 more....some deep, some not so deep.
Anyway, she ordered a pelvic xray just to be safe, and labwork, which I just got some of my results via email. My hemoglobin and CBC are both up, and close to normal....yay!!
I also got 2 calls when I got home: 1 from the home health nurse who is going to be doing my wound care 3 times a week, and the other from a Kaiser plastic surgeon...they just want to check everything out, so that appt is Friday.
I have to be off work longer now, which is a drag, but I feel like I'm headed on the right track now in terms of my healing.
My birthday is Wednesday..........I'll be the "Big 5-0" and my friend bought me a dress and insists I wear it...she said, "even though we're just eating at your place, you are NOT wearing that nightgown!" She also said I have to wear a bra!! LOL, I just love this gal, she's not just a great friend (she's the one who picked me up in SD), but she makes me laugh.
Oh yes, more important, I can start to see that I am getting a shape!! The swelling has gone down so much now that I can wear my compression garment....I love it!
Anyway, just wanted to update my OH friends, and once again, say thanks, and that I love you guys alot.

Oh Janel - I amso happy to read that you are getting better....its been a rough road for you and Ifeel so bad....but look how hot you will be when you are all well....
Happy Birthday and you are gonna be one hot 50 yr old for sure....just have a blast and go out and celebrate again when you are all well....you are so lucky to have such a great friend...and I agree with her - put that dress on and get out of the nightie...

You're moving in the right direction... I know it's hard to stay upbeat... but once you begin to see the signs of Dr. Qs mastery... everything else seems to melt away... I'm so happy you're beginning to see your new shape emerge while the same beautiful Janel remains inside.
I'm two months out and each day I notice something different!
Wait till you go back to work and everyone notices... sort of makes it worth it a little more... I know I appreciate my plastics more because of the severe complications I went through. Even though I questioned myself if this pain was all worth it... in the end it was.
I too missed my birthday... had wonderful plans to see Seal and Macy Gray... and I couldn't go... but again, it was all worth it. Plastics are for those *****ally feel they need it... it's boot camp on steroids.
