Pain

So I have had some pain on my left side (the side where my drain was as well as the main opening (where the went in with the stapler, etc).  The only thing I can relate it to is menstrual cramps, but a little higher, and also only when I am walking.  I saw my doctor today and he gave me the worst case scenario, a hernia in that spot OR just the muscle healing with all the trauma. He did not feel the start of a hernia....but of course, now I am freaked out that I am the only one who ever had that pain.  Did anyone else have pain 1 week after??

Aimee,

You're still healing and I felt similar things that soon post-op.  Every once in a while, even after almost 7 weeks, I feel a slight twinge in the drain and bigger opening.

Don't think the worse, keep the faith.  You are only 1 week out, just keep working on getting your liquid and food in.

Hang in there girlfriend, I'm thinking good thoughts and saying prayers too.

Hugs,
Barb

Hey SS!!

I am also having the same sort of pain, not completely unbearable, but still annoying. I saw Dr Suh today and he said pretty much the same thing, examined me, and said no worries...

=0)

Are you on soft foods??

Paula,

Thanks for your reply!! Agreed, not unbearable, but I have to stop and breathe through it every once and awhile.

Soft foods?  I serioulsy almost started crying when I read that you were eating tuna.  I am not allowed to start mushies until March 17th!!!!!!!  So sad.  Don't know why, but my doctor says 3 weeks.  So let me tell you what I eat:

1.  slim fast low carb shake, chocolate (have always hated vanilla)
2.  lindora chicken soup
3. jello occassionally, since it doesn't count as protein I don't bother

Yep. 3 things.... and water. Jealous??

OMG!! It makes you wonder why doctors are SO completely different in their protocol.... I'm so sorry... I thought you'd be right there with me =0(

Sugar free carnation instant breakfast has a *little* bit of protein, and makes for a little different taste. I still have to drink a ton of protein shakes... ewwwww...

Aimee,

If you don't like vanilla, try the vanilla in a blender w/ 1/2 banana. It gives it a different flavor. Or even the vanilla in the blender with some orange sf jello mix. It will taste like an orangsicle. But as far as the pain, its probably is yor muscles healing from the drain being in there. Don't worry it will go away.

Take Care,

Julie

Hi Aimee

I never had to have that drain thingie. But my guess would be your just healing!
I always had aches and pains in the first few months. Just remember, your innards have totally been rerouted!

Stay strong! Everything will get better.....I PROMISE!
