called Dr Agha (plastics) today--he was generous w/his time

I'm starting to think more about plastics. I met w/all 5 plastics guys at the OH conference back in Nov 08 here in LA.

There were two docs that stood out to me--Dr. Agha and Dr. Aboolian. I liked Katzen as well but felt most comfortable with these first two.

Anyway, I contacted Dr. Agha's office today because I had a few follow-up questions (wondering when I should come back in to see him for another consult as I get closer to my goal weight). Well, I called and Dr. Agha answered the phone himself--he talked to me for a good 10 minutes and didn't rush me or anything. I had some questions that he said his assistant could help me with and he took a message so his assistant could call me back.

I just thought this was so nice--he felt very human and real to me, and wasn't "above" talking to me on the phone.

He encouraged me to take some photos of myself and to email them to him. He said once he gets them he will have a better idea of when I should go down to his office in Newport to see him.

Anyway, just sharing in case anyone else was interested in Dr. Agha--I have found him to be very personable. (And I've been impressed with his before/after photos as well.)

Thanks Linda, that's so kind of you to say! It's weird for me to watch it--I'm around 176-178 in that segment, so I can see the difference in between "then" and "now". Hopefully I will keep going!

Jean you look amazing!   It is so hard to make the decision on where to go.  Each one has their unique teqnique and specialty.  I hope when I get to that point, I will just know which one is right for me.  All I know is that my goal will always be to win a wet t-shirt contest at 60.  And of course all the beads at Madi Gras.  Not today, but one day I will.  You all are so amazing and informative and make me think out of my box.  Thank you ladies.  I am having new ideas and thought in mynew body!  lol  :)  Have an awesome day.

Small world that you went to school w/Drew Ordon!

I've heard a few plastic surgeons (Agha was one of them) speak at the OH conference I attended in Nov 08 here in LA. They said that it's important to choose a surgeon who has lot of experience specifically doing work on patients who've lost a lot of weight, explaining the the skin is different because it's lost elasticity, etc. IOW, they are saying that a post-bariatric tummy tuck is not the same as a tummy tuck on a woman who was never obese. 

I'm not sure if Dr. Orden focuses on plastics for weight loss. It doesn't mean I am not open to finding out more about him. But I already had met Drs. Agha and Aboolian before I went on thetv show and I felt that I'd be really happy with both of them.

So I guess we will see...

Thanks, for the information.  You know I never thought about that before, that they should be familiar with weight loss patients as our skin is different.  I have only met Dr. Katzen, I liked him, but before I make a final decision I would like to do what you are doing and meeting with others.  I still have a long way to go till I get there, but I will.  Keep us posted on what you decide.

I guess they same the same thing about WLS, if you think about it. The complication rate in WLS goes down significantly when the surgeon has done 200+ of a procedure.

But, it might also be, for all I know, that the reason this is said about bariatric patients for plastics  is that it is a marketing statement where the surgeons are defining their target market and creating language that tells their target market "this is why you should choose me."

I did a little more reading online. It seems that Ordon specializes in facial plastics. So I guess PS's do have their niches.

I have a friend I've been visiting with who just had plastics with him 2 weeks ago and she looks AMAZING!! She's the second person I know who's had plastics with him and they both look absolutely FANTASTIC!!

I can't recommend him enough.. plus he's really good about follow up and after care.
