I have to lose 37 pounds by June, does anyone have any suggestions of initial small steps to take or diet ideas?

I wasn't required to lose any weight prior to surgery, but it was required that I not gain any after my initial consult with the surgeon. I actually began eating the way I do post surgery, prior to surgery. Smaller portions, protein first. I did a lot of walking as well. Hope this helps. Good luck! xoxoxo

Hi protein, low carb, and that is basically what you will be on after surgery.  I went on that one time and lost 60 lbs in 3 months, it's a good diet without a lot of hunger.

Good luck, DIane

I too didn't have to loose any weight before surgery, just couldn't gain any..  Doc put me on a 1000 cal diet, and was able to loose 32 pounds in less than 3 months.  I cut out ALL sodas, kool-aids (way to much sugar) and stayed away from cakes, candies, chocolates, etc.

I hope this helps..  Good Luck Hun..

Hugs,
Jenn

High protien, low carb is the only way to go in my opinion and with results. You ought to try the 5 day pouch test even though you are not a post op...it really works regardless!
