Girl Question.. Up to you if you want to read it guys.. *wink*
So I have PCOS.. My ovaries are filled with Cysts. Before surgery I only had my period about ONCE a year. (How nice was that)
Since my surgery I am always bleeding.. I have started and stopped 4 times already, and I am only 2 months out.
Now I have mentioned this to my bariatrics Doc, and he is sending me to see my PCP. So I have to wait for my appt, but was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
Lots of Love and Hugs to you all,
Jenn

I had PCOS in the 70's and by the time I was 30, the only cure was a hysterectomy. Just hang in there, and see what your PCP says. I still have effects of it. My hormones are a mess, and at age 60, WLS threw me into menopause! How fun is that? Anyway, things are going to change in your body in all different ways, so don't rush to anything too fast. Lose the weight and see what happens, in the meantime take out some stock in Kotex!
Good luck, Hugs, Diane

I have PCOS and have had a hysterectomy but still have my ovaries...ugh! I take Riomet (liquid metformin) and the pain from the cysts is under control. I still ovulate and boy-howdy...can I feel it! I have gone thru a mini-menopause and seem to be done with it, except for an occasional whopper of a hotflash. This condition has, however, affected the speed of my weightloss. My youngest daughter has it also..I am going to get her under the control of an endochronologist as soon as she turns 18...next month. I do not want her to suffer with lifelong problems like I did. She has semi-normal periods, but has the secondary charasteristics and weight problems...best luck with your treatment...

I too struggle with PCOS.....
I, at the time was pre-op, however I was bleeding all the time and became very anemic.
I ended up having a uterine ablation. The ablation burns out your uterine lining and no more periods!!,Best thing I ever did.I don"t know if this is an option for you.Criteria is to be done with child bearing.Just a thought. My very best to you!

I haven't gone through any of that. But I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking about you! And I hope everything turns out for the best.
Take care honey!!

I love my RNY! Find me on myspace myspace.com/bebe_girl209 but be sure to tell me your from OH!
i also have pcos. i am about 7 months post-op. prior to surgery, i would only have my period every 6 months or so when not on the pill and a very scant period most months while on the pill. post-op, my hormones are still trying to regulate themselves. i am having more frequent (22-28 day) cycles while on the same pill (ortho tri cyclen). the cycles are also of a greater duration; last month i went for 22 days! (ugh!)
anyway, i believe this is fairly normal. your body will regulate itself as you lose weight.
best of luck to you!

I have PCOS too. Haven't had the same issue as you, though, so I can't comment on it except to suggest that if you don't already have a PCOS specialist, you might want to consider seeing one. There are a few in CA that I know of--there is one here in LA that I can recommend and I'm sure he knows of the other specialists in CA who focus on PCOS.
My PCP is great and is fairly well informed on PCOS, but when it comes to the details, my PCOS specialist just really knows his stuff.
Just my two cents. Hope that your situation is resolved soon...I can imagine it must be more than a little annoying.
