Last Meal Syndrom?

My big day is 2 days away..well, actual 1 1/2 now...and I'm having a real struggle with 'stink'n think'n'...the kind of thoughts that always caused me trouble where 'bad' food was concerned.  I've made it thru the day so far without going off track...actually ate less calories, which the doc wanted these last 2 days.  Tomorrow is a whole nother day to get thru...and my 'stink'n think'n is that wow...Monday is surgery...I dont have to be good!  And the thought that comes up right after that is: I won't be eating any of 'these' foods again..so endulge now and no regrets later...now I know this is totally asinine and thoughts like these got me where I am today..or was 5 mos ago..241.9 lbs and climbing!  So, do I want everyone to agree and tell me OF COURSE you can splurge...or someone (my Angel???LOL) come slap me upside the head like Gibs does to Denozo on NCIS??  And on the serious side,  how did YOU combat these insane thoughts??  I have to stop eating by 6pm tomorrow nite...then maybe I'll be able to shut the brain up!
Thanks for letting me unload...  it's one of those I KNOW what I SHOULD do..but I really really WANT to do the other^_^

Go out and have yourself a nice dinner.

Hun, you're gonna be on broth and jello and protein drinks and lots and lots of water for some time until your pouch adjusts...
Even Jesus Christ had a last supper!!!

I went out to Claim Jumper... and had a big baked potato and chicken fingers and a dessert with REAL sugar... yes, their ginormous chocolate cake that feeds a small village. I didn't each much of anything... I was ready for my new life. I can eat all of those things now but only in moderation.

My best to you on your path to health!
Kim

Trust me Nancy you are not alone...I think if all of us were honest we would tell you about a last meal syndrome. I went on a 2 month binge of last meals...ate myself to the point where 28 pants and 30-32 tops were so tight and all I kept saying if surgery does not happen quick I am in big doo doo because I am not going to by any bigger clothes.

Just know we have all be there done that...and we understand you...it will be okay! Some day you are going to look back at this and laugh for sure!

Nancy,

You and Lon need to go have a nice dinner and enjoy.  Yes, for the short term you will go on liquids and mushies but then, once you get to solids again, you will get to add things back and I gotta tell you, you're going to enjoy the taste of an onion or a hamburger patty with some cheese.  I went out to luch today with my step mom and ordered a patty melt with only 1 slice of swiss cheese (usually, they put 2 or 3 slices.  I also ordered a box before they brought it to the table.  Mind you, this is the first "hamburger" I've had post op.  So I put 1/2 in the box and actually only ate two bites of it as a whole, rye bread, patty and onions with mustard and catsup (and I chewed the heck out of it). I then got rid of the bread and just ate the patty with mustard.  I was in 7th heaven because it really tasted good.  It fit within my plan and I got my protein in and was satisfied and satiated too.

What I find amazing is that I get so full SO fast and I don't feel deprived and I am losing lbs too.

Wow what a concept.  Now, I won't touch any sugary stuff, juice or sodas (were not supposed to anyway)  but I do love my sugar free pudding, jello or popsicles and I don't miss the high sugar stuff.  I love my Unjury & Click protein too and that helps.

I am watching NCIS and thinking about you LOL and no your angel wont' slap you upside the head, she'll only give hugs and good thoughts!

Hugs,
Barb

I don't know how many times me bff told me this was her last meal or last last meal before her RNY.  I thought it was totally okay until I was getting ready for mine.

What I will say is this, it's okay to have something but here is something to ponder, the more carbs and fat you eat, the larger your liver will get and could cause a problem for surgery.  Also, the more you eat, the more crap (literally) will be in you intestines and do you really want full intestines that will want to empty after surgery when you don't feel like moving???  I did not, so i had my last meal 1 week before my surgery and I was good.  Do wahat you want and make the right decision for you because you will be the one making decisions after your surgery and that's what this is all about, making the right decisions.

I hope everything goes wonderful for you and I can't wait to welcome you to the loser's side!

Hi there
Thank you for responding; you make a whole lot of sense.  And considering I have to take Milk of Magnesia Sunday am...no sense adding to the cleansing procedure LOL  Thank you for the first hand experience example.

I will be praying for you and your surgeon come Monday morning.  Where are you having surgery?  My bff had hers at Sutter General Hospital about 6 years ago, mine was at UCSF.
I never would have thought about the whole liver thing, had several people not told me about it, so I am very happy to pass on the information.  Anything we can to to help surgery be a little easier on our bodies is great and important to do.  Good luck and feel free to ask me any more questions you might have and I will answer very honestly!

love,
Charity
