Small Victory..........First WOW moment

Greetings all,

I think there should be a law against wives being right and not let you live it down. Over the weekend, my wife and I have to go run some errands and she wanted to drive (now thats taking your life in your own hands). Her car has that annoying alarm that is timed if someone doesnt have their seat belt on. I never wore the seat belt because it just didnt fit.

She turns to me and says "Why dont you put on your seat belt? It will fit now. Of course I told her she has lost her mind and its only been 5 weeks since my surgery. And she harped and I finally caved and I will be darned if the stupid thing didnt fit with room to spare. This is the first time in recent memory that I can remember being able to wear a seat belt without trying to find an extension.

Have a great day............Rick

Yeah Rick!  Congrats I know the feeling. These accomplishments may seem small to someone who hasnt been this big, but to us WLS'ers, each and every accomplishment is wonderful.  I took my students to Taco Bell yesterday and I fit in the seat that doesn't move and I even had room between me and the table.  Wow, even on of my students noticed.
Congrats again and keep on doing it.    Hugs,  Donna

Way to Go Rick!  You give us "pre-op" people reason to hope and believe that all the worry and anxiousness before surgery truly will be worth it all!  There isn't anything better than that kind of victory in your life!  And at only five weeks!  Wooo hoooo!!!

Congrats Rick!!!  I have to tell you that when I was reading your post and got to the sentence, "This is the first time in recent memory...." I thought you were gonna say, "That my wife was right."

I am so happy for you.  I remember the days of being embarrassed when out with a friend and having the seat belt not fit or the booth was too small.

Keep up the GREAT work.  I love the happiness that you can feel when you write of your accomplishments.  It will just keep getting better and better.

HUGS TO YOU AND THAT ULTRA SMART WIFE OF YOURS!!!

A big Atta Boy from me, Rick-  good job! I actually cried on an airplane in November when I realized did not have to ask for a seat belt extender, and in fact there were about 8 inches to spare. Husband thought I was nuts. But I bet you know exactly how memorable that moment was for me! Keep it up- XOXOLori
