8 month follow up with surgeon

I am so frustrated!   I hate paying to see a Dr who walks in and says "I'll see you back in 3 mos"!!!!!!!!!!

I am so frustrated right now.  He said there is nothing he can do right now for my stricture problem.  He said if after 10-15 times of being "stretched" doesn't work, then at that time he would CONSIDER another surgery.  He said that is an absolute last resort!  I understand that.  I really do.  He said the recovery could be more difficult than the original surgery because it would most likely have to be an "open" surgery. And if the stricture is caused by scar tissue, then there is no guarantee that it wouldn't happen again.  So he told me to keep seeing my GI doctor with the hopes that the next procedure (stetching) works.

So I was thinking.......I have to wait 4-6 weeks in between stretching procedures and he told me that it could take up to 10-15 times to work.  I guess that means I could be on liquids for another year or so.

I just want to cry.  and on top of that. I am having a problem with my hip.  My hip keeps popping in and out of joint.  It really hurts!

What the hell?  I  feel like I am falling apart.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Hi Jean,

Thank you.  I needed that

Me and Veterinarian keep playing phone tag, so I don't know at this point.

See you next Saturday.  My friend Lori may show up too.  She is considering surgery but she isn't sure if she wants lap band or RNY.  I have been inviting her for a while and she may just show up.  In fact her daughter and my daughter are good friends and thats how we met.

Hi Linda,

I am so sorry you are having so much trouble. I wish Dr *****ould do more, but maybe there really is nothing he can do right now. As for your hip, whenever I have joint/muscle/body problems, I take Celebrex. Within a day, the pain and swelling are always way down. I consider it to be magic and Dr. Chin says we can take it.

I won't see you at the coffeehouse, but I am always free to meet up after school. Wecould share liquid at Starbucks or Jamba Juice.

Thanks Nancy,

I am waiting to call my doctor. The office is there at 9am  It's the "popping" in and out of joint that bothers me. It has done it occasionally on and off over the past few years, but now it's everytime i sit in a chair or bend over.  So I think I need to get it checked.  Last night when it did it, it really hurt and this morning it still hurts.  Is celebrex a prescription?  or over the counter now?

I may take you up on your offer to meet up after work one night next week.

Back in my fat days, my knee was bad and my tendon was in terrible shape. Celebrex kept me walking painfree. It is a prescription, but doctors often have samples of it in their offices. I have only taken it once since surgery and I took it with yogurt and had no trouble.

I am free all next week except for Thursday when I have Open House. Maybe Julia could join us too???

My RNY surgeon, Dr. Suh,  does prescribe Celebrex, but in conjunction with Prilosec. He's done this for many years, and patients say it works well. Prilosec is taken 30-60 minutes prior to the Celebrex to coat your pouch, limiting the chances of ulcers forming. He only prescribes the Celebrex to those with a history of severe back or joint pain, not something minor. DAVE

I had really hoped your surgeon would have good news for you this visit.  It is very frustrating when the professionals don't have the answers we were hoping to hear.  Sorry that you will have to go thru another stretching, but maybe that will be the one that takes!

Try to stay optimistic, It'll help your recovery!

I'm so sorry to hear this.  Hang in there girl.  I think your surgeon is right...you really don't want to do a revision unless you're flat on your rear...and can hardly move.  Just letting you know people here care.  Hoping you get tons on hugs at your next local support group.  Brian  PS You might want to post on the Main Board, Revision Board, or the WLS Failure Boards...see if others are in similar situations.
