Can't believe it will work for me.
As I look at everyone's before and after pics I just can't believe I will be losing the weight. Nothing has worked for me. It's so hard to believe. Did anyone else feel this way?
Yes, I think at one time (or several times) during this whole journey, we all wonder if we can be successful. We have all tasted the bitter pill of failure and you are almost afraid to hope that this could work, or worse yet, that it can be another failure.
We have all been there. This can be an amazing ride. Commit yourself to making it succeed and you will be amazed at what you can accomplish. There are some awesome people on this site who will be there for you. Can't wait to welcome you to the loser's bench!

Hey congratulations on your impending surgery!!! It is going to happen and you will not fail at wls if you work that tool. It is an amazing thing that for once and for all to have a method of losing and have the built in tool to help keep it off. I am nearly 7 years out...have had a few ups and downs....but overall would never trade this way of living for anything. All I can say is it works when you work it for sure!
Keep on posting and let us know when your surgery is...we for sure want to welcome you to the losing side and be able to honestly call you a LOSER!!

I think we all failed at diets- that's why we turned to WLS!
The fear that I'd fail at this too ....absolutely present.
The leap of faith that it WOULD work, and the promise to myself and my family that I'd do everything asked of me- scariest jump of my life.
Now, nine months later....wearing a giggle-inducing single digit size without X's after it....actually RUNNING to my car after putting the grocery cart in the cart corral....modeling my JUNIOR PROM dress from 30 years ago in high school for my daughter after we went shopping for hers....this is my miracle, my 'do-over", my drink from the fountain of youth. I cannot believe my eyes,
I wish this for you too- it can be done! And we all felt the same way you do! Best of luck- XOXOLori
Greetings and welcome,
Believe it! This is such an incredible journey and I am only 2 1/2 mos post op. For me the most important thing is to do what they tell you to do, keeping in mind that the surgery is a tool, but we have to use it and work it. Like you, I tried many diets, including a medical weight fast where I lost over 100lbs only to put it back on plus. Surgery I felt was my last option but, I also realize that this is no miracle cure, it's what I put in mouth that counts too and above all I have to take responsibility for managing what I eat. It's not simple and it's easy to slip back but this time I am determined that I will get to my goal weight and be all the healthier for it.
So glad you're here and we're here to help anytime.

1.) how does it affect your period?
2.) will I need someone to stay with me after I come home from the hospital? Its just me and my daughter (she's 10).
3.) it it hard to lose/keep the weight?
4.) will I eventually be able to eat normal food? Not quanity but if I make a meat loaf for my family will I be able to have a small portion also?
5.) how did your family and friends feel about you having surgery? My closest friends are happy but my family doesn't really seem to enthused about it. I keep hearing that I am making a mistake. I disagree.
6.) I don't smoke cigs but I do smoke pot sometimes. I have stopped because of my surgery but I read that they test for nicotine so I am wondering if they test for marijuana too? Is it a blood or urine test?
7.) can you regain the weight? I don't mean a few pounds I mean large amounts of weight.
Sorry it's so long I just have so many questions and I don't know anyone personally who has had it done? Thanks again
