Hugs and Love needed for Dawn . . . she is back in the hospital!
So as I'm sitting on the trolley on my way home last night I get a call - it is Dawn - in tears . . . she was on her way to Sharp Memorial . . . driving herself AND her son - could not keep any liquids down . . . and I said "I'm on my way".
We got there at 5:15 - she had an IV (which took forever just to hook up) . . . they wanted her to drink stuff for her catscan and as I look at it I see bubbles . . . IDIOTS . . .so I go out after the nurse and say she can't have that - so he offered juice with it . .. and we said no . . . so we gave them some propel we had with us . . . which she could get about 2 oz in every 1/2 hour. They ended up pumping "stuff" into her IV for the catscan (ok . .. I'm medically terminology challenged) . . .at about midnight they came back and said they were admitting her. She has a partial blockage in her lower intestine. They will decide in the morning if they have to operate.
So now I have her 13 year old son - and she's writing down directions to her house in Vista - I got him home . . . after detours because the 15 was completely closed in both directions for construction . . . and just walked in the door here at 2:15. So now we wait . . no idea if she is even in room yet.
The next fun thing will be the fact that her car is at the hospital. IF they operate, she can't drive obviously . . . so I'll have to find one of my kids around here to help get her car back to her house . . .
I'll keep you posted. I have to grab a couple hours sleep now because I can't be off work tomorrow. Please keep her in your thoughts!!!!

Chris, I know it seems brutal to make patients drink the contrast for a ct scan but that is part of the way that they see what is going on. They try to do oral and iv to see best what is going on. I know it sucks and I know it tastes worse than crap. Been there done that read the book. I hope that they figure out what is going on. I know at my hospital they always call me to ask. So even the hospitals with the big fancy names do not come without their issues just like the small community hospitals
