Back To Work
I have done very well with weight loss, Since my surgery I have lost 52lbs, and dropped from a size 52 to a size 48 pants. However, I am a little concerned, in a few short weeks I will start to travel again mostly by car, my old habits were fast food & lots of Diet Coke, now I have to really pick and choose, what I drink to hydrate myself, and what I eat in small amounts. If anyone else travels for work I would welcome your tips.

Hey Doc,
I travelled a lot for work after my rny (currently waiting for approval for a DS Revision). The thing that saved me was water and having protein bars on hand. If I was forced to go to a fast food place I'd get grilled chicken or a vege burger, dump the bread and just eat the meat, lettuce, tomato. You can also carry around the crystal light or snapple diet iced tea individual powders to flavor your water if you don't like it plain. It's like quitting smoking, can't go to your old hangouts until you feel you've got the old habits under control. If you're doing day trips, you can pack great healthy stuff. Either way I'm sure you'll do great.

I am going to start working in July and this is my plan. I plan to take an ice chest with me with all the things I can eat or drink with me. I think that is probably the best thing to do. I have an idea for you though. From what you said you stopped at fast food alot. How about you get a jar and put in the amount of money each day that you would have spent on fast food in a jar. Save it up and every month give yourself a nice treat like tickets to game, a new shirt, some fancy cologne, take your wife or gal or whatever some place nice what ever makes you happy. So everytime you pass the fast food joint you know that if you skip you get a great prize at the end of the month? Just a thought. I wish you the best of luck. You are doing amazing keep it going.

I traveled (as a photographer) Before I became disabiled and I never gained weight and this is what I did...grilled only, low fat only, NO SODA of any kind. This is one of my favorite things to order grilled chicken, side salad, low fat milk (before eating), keep crystal lite and snapple in your auto. You will do fine.
Good Luck

Can't help you with the traveling issue..but wanted to pop in and say Congratulations on a fantastic job well done! You have been making wise choices up to now..no reason to change just because you're on the road. Be good to yourself and remember why you chose WLS and what your goals are...You'll do just great!
