Good Thursday Morning Cali

Good Morning Cali and welcome to Thursday edition of well....how about we are one day closer to Friday? LOL

You know when I was reading the Wednesday post, I thought how awesome is it that there are a couple of people I think....one is Michelle who jumped in there with her weight loss amount who is a pre-op and who is doing super fantastic? That is just the best and you know darn well these people are going to do just great!

It is not that we forget the newbies or people in waiting....we get so hung up sometimes after our surgery, but in so many ways those newbies are for sure what keeps me going and keeps me excited after nearly 7 years out to try my best to be compliant and they also give me the motivation to keep on going.

It is the same way with all you runners and exercise junkies (I use to be one of those). You all are out there pounding the pavement whether it is running, walking, hiking, biking, going to the gym or having your own method of getting your exercise in, you inspire a lot of people around here. Isn't it the best when someone posts....I use to hate exercise...was infatic about "Oh I am never going to exercise...I hate it" and within no time at all...OMG they are like this is the best thing that ever happened to me!

That is what these boards are about...supporting and reaching out to each other encouraging each other along the way. WWW is one of the best things that I think LuLu started I do not know way back when and a few of us picked it up so it would not get lost.

It is so encouraging each week to see those pounds fly off, to hear the elation in peoples words....to lend helping words to help others when they are scraping along.

"We" make this board happen...we are for the most part a pretty tight knit group and that does not mean that it is exclusive either....that is why I was so happy to see people posting who have not even had weight loss surgery.

I have often said this....we have been excluded most of our lives due to our girth...we do not feel comfortable...we don't fit into society let alone our clothes. This board is a good start to finding out that we do not stand alone no matter what the situation is.

We were once just a cyber community and years ago....a few of us made the leap to have physical face to face contact with each other and from that point on it has blossomed into....last suppers, luncheons, parties, finding friends and friendships even marriages which will last a lifetime. Who would have ever thought?

When I click on here and see the outpour of support, the giving and selfness of you members...it is pretty incrediable.

I was going to do a shout out this morning, but I decided to forgo it for whatever came out of my fingers. I just want you all to know that as the MamaBear I am...I am really proud of all you for your accomplishments and the struggles you face each and everyday with life before wls and life after wls. It is not an easy road to hoe for sure. I do not know if any of you saw Oprah yesterday. I caught the tail end of it hearing Star Jones speak about her journey and how humbled she was and I really got the impression that I think she wished she could have reached out and been honest because she would not have been alone.

Remember that....hiding is what got us in trouble and this board is a start to stepping up to the plate and coming out and being proud of who you are...to celebrate you!!!

Have a great day all!

Good Day California!
Janine, what a lovely way to start the day, your note was an uplifting joy.  You put into words what most of us think and many times, fail to say ourselves.  Wonderful message.
I did see Oprah, my day stopped so I could watch it.  These women embattled what every overweight person embattles, yet we all think or thought at one time we alone in the battle.  Society played a cruel role for almost a century of physical (un)acceptability.  I am so happy to be in this stage of time and life, we are the cusp of breakouts!  Education and support are still the key factors, and boy-howdy, are we good students and teachers, and best of all, examples to our brother and sister WLS Newbies and future WLS members/participants!
Have a Blessed day Janine and all...

Good morning Janine and Cali ...WOW ... deep thought so early in the morning . .. very cool ... ty!

We had a great week! We are down 69.5!  For sure we love numbers from everyone - and even if you don't post, but you tell me on the phone - those numbers are included . . . we ARE going past the ton mark this year!

Well our prima donna EA got the transfer to the East Coast (yea) .. .BUT, we doubt they will replace her (no so yea) which will put a whole pile of stuff on the two of use on the audit side . . . which won't be bad unless one of is us sick or on vacation .  . . and then the other one is going to be hating life!  lol  It's one of those "be careful what you wish for" things .. .but we've decided we still like that she is going the best .  . . almost 20 years I've dealt with her . .. ugh!

I'm not walking at lunch today . .. managed to put a hugh honking blister on the back of my ankle/heel yesterday at lunch . . . so I better let it get better before I try to irritate it again.  I love my pedometer . . . I can't get the software to work on my machine at home,  so I'm taking it to the office today and see if it will work on that platform . ..

Have a great day everyone . . .and PLEASE remember to post your numbers next week!

Chris

Chris you should get this stuff at the store called mole skin to put on your heels when you are doing all this power walking. I am telling you I get blisters so easy even on the bottom of my feet....I use that stuff all the time...I just stick to my skin...I do not know if you are supposed to...but it really helps. I even use it in my shoes to pad areas that get rubbed too much...you know those stupid strappy sandals can really irritate. I have had such severe feet problems over the years...and I am constantly searching for stuff to protect them!

You are doing great and the weight loss this week is friggin cool eh?

Glad you got rid of the prima donna...but I hope that is not really going to increase your already big workload!

Thanks . . .yup mole skin is great . ..  I just didn't have any . .. and I wasn't power walking yesterday at lunch . ..  but there was just something in the back of that shoe tha****ing me wrong . ..and once I was out and realized it . . .I still had to get back to the office lol.  Sigh ...thanks for the words of wisdom though . . . if I can't keep my feet in good shape, it would be a horrible condition to walk that far in!  If anyone could even walk it with bleeding blisters!  Oh well ...  I'll do water aerobics tonight and maybe then I can start again on Friday.

Chris,

LuLU took me to this place called the running center, where the fit you for the perfect running/walking shoe.  I thought yeah right this is just a scam to get more money.  It was not they tried on about 60 pairs of shoes and made me walk and run etc in them.  What a difference these shoes are.  They don't charge you extra for the servcie either.  It is heaven to finally walk in shoes that don't hurt my feet and feel great.  You may want to give it a try.  I will ask Lu to see if there is a store that is near you.  Shoes do make the difference.

Thanks Rhonda . . .I'm actually signed up for a shoe clinic this month . . . because I know this is a necessity . . . and I know I need two pair also - so I'm trying to get the bucks for it . . . I guess that will be what I do with my Costco money this month - although that is going to be short too - oh well . . . gotta start some place!  One pair is a great start!  And SOCKS are also a big thing!

My problem - and I already warned my team - is I can not USUALLY bend my leg (hip) far enough to get a sock on my foot . . . and they are going to have to flip a coin to see who gets stuck with the job!

Thanks again!
Chris
