Best Friends

I spent the day yesterday with my beautiful friend Lauri.  We have been absolute best friends for the last 37 years and still going strong.  We're both tall.  She's 5'9" and I'm 5'10". We think alike.  We finish each other's sentences, we buy the same thing without consulting.  We hadn't seen or talked to each other in over 9 months once and when we got together, we were both driving the same new car.  I had a red Thunderbird and she had a blue Thunderbird.    If you look in our closets, you'll find some of the same clothes, but not on purpose!

I was brand new to Mt. Shasta in the 6th grade, fresh out of Catholic School.  Knew nobody.  And this tall skinny kid just like me walked up and told me....."You look like you need a friend.  Want to be mine?"  Well, that's all it took!  We have been through thick and thin.  Through marriages and divorces.  Through child birth (she was my lamaz partner, and I was hers).  And recently, burying a parent.  Through thick and thin, we are there for each other.

I got an amazingly beautiful picture of the both of us and posted it on my photos.  I'd put it here, but I just can't seem to figure out how!  Go take a look!

I've inspired her!  My weight loss has brought home just how much she's let herself go.  So, we've had several very good talks and she's gone to see a doctor and enrolled in a medically supervised diet plan.  It's a high protein, high fiber diet.  She'll be taking supplements and getting regular blood work.  We talked a lot and have discovered it is almost identical to my eating plan but hers comes with an appetite supresser and pre packaged powder and meal supplements for the first 2 weeks and then after that she eats their product except for dinner.  We've also talked extensively about her drinking wine at night because she's bored.  I've hooked her onto SoBe Lean!!!!  We will be talking a lot and I am her instant support system!

I also told her that when I find myself wanting to graze at night, I start working on my scrapbooking  I've found that it occupies my mind and diverts me from the grazing!  Plus, I get my pictures all done!

Just wanted to share a picture and story of my best friend for life!  She is Awsome!

MOMO!

That is just beautiful, the picture and all.  It is so imp;ortant for us girls to have best freinds.  I have known my BFF for a long time now.  Even though we live 2 hours apart we talk everyday.  I miss her so much, but she comes up and I come down the hill at least once a month to see eachother.  I don't know what I would do without her.  She has been through so much with me.  She knows my Secrets and all the ugly things about me and is still my BFF.  That is what makes her special.  You go girl.

Great pic and touching story! I am very fortunate...I have 2 BFF one has been my best friend for 41 years and the other for 12 years.Marcey and I have been BF since freshman year in high school, and she lives 6 miles from me right now. Kay and I met when I was living in Crystal NV...not on the map and when we met we couldn't stand one another, that only lasted about 3 weeks until we got to know each other. I was the bartender in the only bar her husband would go into (there were 3 in a town of 65)And it pays to be nice to the one pouring your drinksShe-devilLOL She now lives in AZ and manages a bar But we see each other at least once a year and talk weekly.
It is wonderful to have someone in your life that is always there for you good and bad.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you all!  She is amazing and like my hubby............gets me.  We don't have to say a thing and end up at the same conclusion.  She's my best friend.  We took her out on a boat ride yesterday.  I just knew that would just put her at peace.  We grew up on the lake.  Spent the summers on the lake.  And just being in a boat, floating, and laying back with the music playing brings such peace.  We were just happy.

Anybody out there have a friend you haven't talked to in a while?  Pick up the phone and get it done!!!!  Life is so short = cherish the one's in it!

I'm still up in the air about whether I can make it . . . I'm doing Yosemite the week of the 10th . . . and between those expenses and the Seattle 3Day for shoes, plane, yadda yadda yadda . . . I'm thinking it might not be in the cards this time.  If I can manage it - I'll be there!  Thanks!
