Good Afternoon Cali,

I have been doing preaty good with my new stomach, I have lost about 60 lbs, in the 7 weeks. However, I am feeling stuck at 300, in fact I think I have gained pound or two. I spoke to my PCP yesterday and he thinks I should be eating 3 small meals a day. I have been drinking 2 35 gram protien shakes, during the day and a small meal at night.

So what is best, 3 meals a day Or can I keep doing the shakes & 1 meal a day.

Thanks
Doc

Doc,

What does your surgeon say?  How about the nutritionist?  I met with my nut a couple of weeks ago and she suggested 3 main meals (one can be sub'd with a protein shake) and 3 small snacks like cheese or sf pudding.  She suggests to watch the carb intake and make sure I am getting in about 70-80grams of protein a day.

Hope that helps,
Barb

Of course whatever your doctor(surgeon) says is what you should do but..... try the 3 small meals and the protein. I've heard and seen that if you up your liquid protein intake you'll lose more weight. Sometimes your body just needs a change from routine to kinda jumpstart the weight lose again, Everyone experiences stall on their journey so don't be discouraged. You are off to a wonderful start.

Hey Doc:

Congratulations on your wl so far...you are doing awesome!!!

First of all you need to follow your surgeons guidelines a huge thing okay? I do not know if your PCP is fully aware of what goes on to reintroduce yourself to foods either. It is just because they are doctors doesn't mean they know it all.

Secondly, I do believe if I am not mistaking and please do not take my absolute word on this, but our bodies go into starvation mode....meaning it is going to hang to everything it has because it does know that you are starving yourself in all actualty.

So my suggestion to you is to call your surgeon and tell him you have hit a plateau and that you are jumping around at the same weight and sometimes gaining a pound or two. Just don't freak out...it happens to the best of us...old and new.

I do know for myself I did not drink protien shakes because they did not agree with me. They almost hurt like because they were so filling to me. My doctor had me eating regular food 3 times a day with a small snack...heck everything was small...wait a minute...it still is LOL

Good luck Doc....like I said you are doing fantastic really!

Just my 2 cents worth but it looks like you aren't eating enough...However, follow your surgeons rules and it will start coming off again.

Thank You all so much,

I have been making my protein goals, but maybe my body needs more to process. I'll give my surgeon's RD a call and see what she has to say. It has just become easier to drink those 2 shakes during the day and a meal at night.

Thanks Again
Doc

Sometimes you gotta play around with the calories + and -

Remember to do cardio.  That shed the fat off of me so quickly that I never got stuck.  I too at 3 small meals so make sure it's the good foods you're eating to nourish your body.

You'll break away from the 300's.....Good luck!
