Not a Cadidate? Help
I agree with most people here that there is more to this than your saying. As far as the dyslexia not sure how sever it is with you but many people deal with it every day and many people do not have a lot of significant memories about 20 yrs ago.
Honesty with oneself is of the utmost importance and can be a dual edge sword at the same time. I went for my psyh eval last night . I almost blew the eval by being honest with her. One of the questions that she was required to ask was about a history of sexual abuse. I answered honestly and the only thing that got me the green light for being a good candidate was the fact that I didn't mention names or places: other wise by state law she would of had to report it.
If your only true issue is dealing with reading lables and questionable memories of 20 yrs ago practice memory skills and perhaps some occupational therapy can help with the reading/writting issue. If you want/need this then all efforts are worth the eventual outcome.
If you need to chat, rant or what ever we are all here for you and if you need to have an off line buddy just email here and we can communitcate that way.

I agree with an earlier poster. If the problem is the questionaire you filled out, then I would ask for it to be taken as an oral exam. If you have someone to help you shop, reading labels should not be a problem, and you will learn over time what you can and cannot buy. Dyslexia should not be a bar to having surgery.
If, however there is something the therapist noticed that you are not aware of, then she should give you a better explanation so that you understand why there is a problem. To be successful at this surgery, you need to question anything you don't understand, or you are setting yourself up to fail.

Tell the Psychotherapist she or he is full of s!@!. I know that there is nothing to stop you from having wls because I am dyslexic too and I have had the RNY. So the psycho says you must have a good memory of 20 years ago. Who in hear can remember what they last ate and or labels read 20 years ago. Does everyone have someone with them all the time? Again find a new psychotherapist. God Luck.
