How do you stay motivated & Addiction Transfer
Hi,
First of all, you are not a failure. Check with your surgeon to see if they offer a support group. I was fortunate as mine did and we covered topics such as addiction transfers to nutrition, etc. This helped me a lot, just getting together with people who face the same issues. You are not alone. We have all been there, fighting either the same demons or others.
This is a very supportive board, with an exceptionally caring group of people. We have an informal group in LB and we get together for coffee and chat about all sorts of things. Maybe you can do this with some folks near you?
I wish you all the success in world. You have taken the first steps to a healthier life, hang in there!!

OMG thank you so much guys for all your wonderful answers and suggestions! I love the closeness we all have here at OH and am so thankful for you guys. The Cali board ROCKS! :O)
I'm so sorry it took me so long to reply. My 18-year-old daughter who still lives at home went into labor Tuesday, had my grandson on Wed but couldn't come home from the hospital until Friday afternoon....meanwhile I missed a week of school and some homework assignments. :O(
I have a drinking problem that has been impossible to kick! I make the decision to quit, but I just can't. My surgeon does have a support group the first Monday of every month, but the first month was only a week out and I didn't feel good enough to go and the next one I completely forgot about. I'm going to the next one for sure. Maybe I need to go to AA meetings??? I have no clue. I didn't expect to have this problem after surgery....
I guess I'm going to call my insurance co Monday and see if I can get sent to a therapist. I've got to get this drinking under control. Also my life is sort of falling apart so maybe she can help me adjust. I live with my in-laws and of course my family too but most everyone out here is an alcoholic so I need some out side help. I wish I could move but that's not possible until I get out of school in 3 more years and get a job, or if the economy ever picks up and my husband starts making some money again.
I really would like to join a gym! :O) We live WAY out in the country and you can't walk around, out side of the property, because people let their packs of dogs run free and you'll get attacked. :O( We're about 20 min a way from the nearest gym, I should go in and see how much it is a month to join.
Thanks again guys for all your help and encouragement. This addiction transfer has been harder than I thought. :O(
I'm definitely going to start recording my food again. I used to do it every single day and was doing good, but then I started drinking and since Rum has so much calories in it I just stop recording my intake. Also I need to get back on track with water and vits. Argggggggggggg
