Hi Mell,

I know this has to be BEYOND frustrating for you.  I am not even going to say I know how you feel.  I dont.  But I do want to say that RNY was the best choice for me.  I also wanted to have lap band.  I wanted to lose about 100 lbs.  But I after doing all the research. I felt that RNY was for me.  One of the main reasons is because I know my eating habits.  I know this may sound crazy, but I figured out that with Lap band the only restriction is how much you eat.  Not what you eat.  I just don't think I would have had the discipline to eat right.  With RNY I don't have a choice.  I know I can't eat sugar or fat or there are horrible consequences.  It it what keeps me eating properly.  Now..I am not saying LapBand doesn't work.  There are quite a few people that have been successful.  But I guess what I am saying. is that you have been fighting for 5 years to have RNY....Please don't settle because of a glitch in the surgeons schedule.  We are all here for you.  This is a great support group. and if you need to vent......vent.  But please don't settle for something because it may be quicker.  I have seen alot of stories of people who had lap band only to go back and have the RNY.   Hang in there

Good morning,

Dont give up just because they messed up the schedule. I too had to wait 4 years to finally get the surgery. Between losing my Kaiser coverage right when they were going to put me on the chedule to waiting for the year after getting new insurance only to lose my job right when the process got started again. Trust me, I was feeling depressed and thinking that maybe I am not suppose to get this done.

Stick to your guns and dont doubt your decision. I finally had it done 2 months ago and am down 65 pounds since surgery and a total of 86 pounds since January. DONT GIVE UP..!!

Have a great day.........Rick
