Is there a wait before I can apply?

On january 1st I'm switching over to an HMO instead of the PPO I have now. I'm doing this because the PPO does not cover the DS but the HMO will.

My question is: Can I apply for the DS through my insurance as soon as I have switched over or is there a waiting period?

Get a detailed copy in writing of your HMO's policy (Sometimes available online)  on their WLS requirements like physician documented attempts at weight loss, and the necessary mandated time lines reguired and what is covered.

If you qualify for weight loss surgery, you'll be able to get the DS.
