Totally Bored... After Surgery Question about "THE" Pill

Hello Again...

Yes, I really need to find something to do beyond posting on here... LOL 

How long after surgery do they allow us to start taking our birth control? I have always needed to take BC pills to keep my cycle regular and I've been told after this current pack I'm on to stop taking them. I'm just wondering how long after surgery can I go back on them? They have also controlled my horrid cramps as well...

Any ideas, comments, answers...? They'd all help :0)

Well, first of all congrats on your surgery. Secondly, absorption of the pill is significantly decreased.  SOme Dr's recommend patch, or injections and usually not for 6 weeks after surgery. the reason for this is that you can be prone to bood clots.

Hi. Are you going to have the RNY? If you are, then you are going to have to find a different form of birth control.  The pill isn't reliable due to absorption problems. You will need to take to your doctor about what else is out there. There are a lot of options. I changed from the pill to the ring. It isn't bad at all.
