Hi All!!  I hope everyone is doing well.  I have a quick questions?!!  Does anyone from Northern California if Kaiser does revision surgery and what the process is like?  I have gained quite a bit of weight since my surgery and I am feeling horrible about it.  Thank you and Take care

Hi Guerita, I don't have any answers for you about the revision, but have you tried the 5 day pouch test to see if your pouch is still working? It may help you get back on trach. Here is the link:  http://www.5daypouchtest.com/

You're welcome hun. I know a few "old-timers" that are 4+ years out have dine the 5 day pouch test and it has helped them out. Good luck and update us on your progress. =)

Hi, Guerita!
Kaiser does not do revisions - but you might be able to force them to cover a revision by filing an appeal to the DMHC (dept. of managed health care). I'm going to send you a pm.

Hi Lara!

Thank you!  What is a PM?   Is that a private message?  How do you do that?  I am pretty new this site has changes so much since 2003. I am not familar with the Department of managed health care.

Thank you

A pm is a private message. Check the top of your screen and you should see something saying that you have 1 unread message. Click on that and you'll find the pm.
The Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC for short) oversees hmo's in CA. If someone feels that they are being denied needed health care, they first go through their insurer's internal appeals process, and if still not satisfied can appeal to the DMHC for an IMR (independent medical review). Most, though not all, states have some kind of external appeals process, and in CA this is it.
