First Time Poster... Long Time Reader...
I've been reading posts for a while and finally decided to post something. I'm a little nervous and just need some reasurance. You see, my surgery is scheduled for May 4th, the day after tomorrow. I will be having the RNY surgery.
Right now, my thoughts are filled with nothing but the surgery. Unfortunately, I wish I had something else in my stomach other than the butterflies.
I've been on a liquid diet for the last 8 days and am about to go out of my mind. I know it's going to help in the surgery but it sure is hard.
Oh to have 1 cracker...
Ah, but I digress, or is it digest... gotta get my mind on something else.
Any words of wisdom or encouragement would really be appreciated.
I understand exactly where you are....thinking, breathing, sleeping surgery is all I did for 7 weeks, waiting for my surgery date to arrive. And if you talk to my husband, he'll stay it hasn't changed! LOL Fortunately, I did not have to do the liquid diet thing before surgery...but believe me, you will find post surgery and being on liquids for the first couple of weeks really easy (if not boreing, I agree) but you've already been practicing!
Just do what your doc tells you to do; follow your Nut's food instructions and don't try to move forward to quickly; start back on the exercising as soon as you feel up to it after surgery; AND lastely? WE'LL be waiting for you on the Loser's Bench! Congrats on your surgery...I just know you will do well and be back posting real soon ^_^

I can so relate, I too had to do the liquid diet the week before my surgery and it started on New Years Day! Here are a couple of hints for better tasting liquids, buy Progresso soup and strain all the solids out, you will get all the flavor and none of the solids! If you like hot and sour Chinese soup, that works fantastic, because it has such flavor. Hope this helps
You are going to do great, and please know we're all here to give you unending support.
We're saving you a nice warm spot on the losers bench!

Hey glad you came out of lurkersville and decided to post. Congratulations on your sugery tomorrow and I do hope you have a speedy recovery. I know you are going nuts not being able to eat, but you are one step ahead of the game with the fasting like you are. You will do great...you just have to have the mindset that this is your new life and that is it.
I stood and cried outside the operating room the day of my surgery nearly 7 years ago and I thought my life would be over. Yeah it was over they old life. I cannot say it has always been easy in these years, but for sure it is nearly 7 years that I would not trade for anything! I lost the pounds and gained a life that has been incrediably rich and full with much more things than food!
Trust me....and all of us when we say we love our RNY or any other kind of procedure there is out there that assists us losing our weight and gaining a life!!!
Good luck!

I had to do the liquid diet thing too, and know what you are going through. I guess what helped me do it was just that. I had to do it. If I could commit to what I needed to do after surgery, I could do this as well. Then I tried different "liquids" to mix up the monotony of the whole liquid diet thing. But it wasn't easy.
Looking forward to making room for you on the loser's bench. Good luck and sending you good wishes for a speedy, uneventful recovery!!
