Surgery Date/Approval Process/How long does this take? Kaiser Riverside

I am going through Kaiser Riverside. I have have completed and passed all my lab work. I called the nurse and advised her I completed all labs and she said all my labs came back normal. She said she would forward all my labs to the surgeon/region and that the Surgeon would call me after reviewing my chart (If he is interested in performing the surgery) and call me in for my "First Visit"
How long does this waiting period take? And those who have gone through Kaiser, how long from this point do you actually receive a surgery date? I am so anxious...can you tell? My labs were transfered about a week ago.

You don't mention it, but I'll assume you've met the patient educations guidelines set by Kaiser. The Kaiser coodinator (think it's still Debbie) forwards paperwork to Dr. Suh's office. They make the appointments, normally within 3 weeks to being the final testing. Dr. Suh may want additional paperwork. I had to see a cardiologist due to may age, although I'd already had and EKG, etc. during my normal Kaiser processing. Then it depends on how busy he is. If you want surgery sooner, ask to be placed on his cancellation list. Some people get "cold feet" and cancel their surgery all fof a sudden.  I had passed the Kaiser Boards for approval, and had a check for the surgery hospital prior to my first appointment with him. As of a couple of months ago, very few people "were in the surgery pipeline" and the wait was really short. He does many RNY surgeries for Kaiser each week. You should plan on attending his support groups after surgery. Or you are more than welcome to come to meetings prior to surgery so you can learn as much as possible from other post ops. Good luck. Yes, I did attend the 6 month classes along with suport groups and Dr. Suhs Seminars. Debbie has my file now and I have already passed the echo gram and EKG and all my test came back normal. So I was curious about when I would get the "letter" or the "call". After that how long do they push out the surgery date?
Also you made a good point. I will definitely look into the cancellations. I will keep that in mind.

People started having surgery a month after we finished our class. I had mine 4 months after but that was my own fault.

Dr. Suh only requires attendance at one support group and one seminar. When you get very close to surgery, you get an appointment with a nutritionist at the hospital. It's a good idea to attend support meetings while you're waiting. First one this month is Murietta, May 4, at 7 PM.    2nd one is in Redlands on May 6 at 7 PM, postponed one day due to Cinco de Mayo here. Last one I go to is in Corona on May 12 at 7 PM. He has one other in Victorville later in the month. I don't know where you live, so I listed all the meetings he has. You can also ask the surgery coordinator Michelle at these meetings about "how long?" until your surgery. She's the one that knows the most about this, and she's also the one you call if you have issues as a post op. DAVE
