MEDI-CAL coverage
My brother is interested in getting the gastric bypass surgery, but doesnt know if his insurance (Medi-Cal) will cover it. He has sleep apnea and weighs 326 pounds and hes only 17.
Im really worried for him because hes so young and shouldn't be going through this!
He has tried many different types of weight loss solutions but unfortunatley nothing has worked out for him. I know what hes going through because i went through it myself.
Do you know of any doctors that perform the gastric bypass and accept medical?
I will appreciate any help i can get.
THANK YOU

If you look just about your post, you will see some green boxes. There is a listing of Medicare/cal doctors. However, your brother's bigger obstacle at the moment is his age. He may have to wait until he's 18. Most doctor's will not perform WLS on minors and it's possible that Medi-cal won't allow that either.
I already told him he needs to wait untill he's 18, he only needs a few more months. I called one of the doctor's office in the forum you suggested, but they told me they didnt accept medi-cal and that they didnt know of any other doctors that did. I will continue looking through that site. I would just like for him to be happy.
i noticed that you are in paramount there is a doctor that i know that was taking medical because i was going to use him befor i got my health insurance through my job his name is Dr. Krahn i am not sure if he still accept medical but give him a try he is located in San Bernardino, Ca heres his number just iin case you want to give him a call (909)475-8611 i believe that is the number. Me and my daughter were going to go to him and she was not 18 at the time and he was going to do hers so it is not always a age factor
Thanks so much, i just gave him a call! They have a website now called westernbariatric.com, so i'm gonna check out their information. They do accept medical, but it has to be connected to an insurance company, example: Anthem (which my brother has). We will be attending a seminar of his in May! Again, thanks!
