What a Day! What a Day

What a day I had today!  I was all exited to go on this Revlon walk with the girls so I start my day at 3:00 a.m.  shower and get Mike up and off we go on our adventure.  I get in the car and see that my husband left me on empty.  No biggie I will stop by the gas station fill er up and get cash out of the ATM.  Well we got the gas but the store was closed so no ATM, I figure not a problem we will find one on the way.  So off we go.  Well we get on the 210 and headed for the 605 to meet up with the girls (Jean, Naomi and Lori)  Well POW!  tire blows out!  I am thinking no biggy, we pull over, I jump over to the passenger side (something I could have never done before) Smile cause I can do it and then to the back to grab the spare and the jack.  Well I have Mike start Jacking up the car while I take the bolts off the wheel.  Well guess what?  The Jack is broken.  I start cussing my husbands name while I am dialing 411 to get the number for a local tow outfit.  Well I get a hold of one and come to find out they charge me $80 bucks to change a tire that I already took all the bolts off and did the hard work.  What a rip off.  Well by this time it is too late to meet the girls so I let them know I will meet them there and pray that we can find one another.  Well it was pretty good going until we get close to the Coliseum.  Martin Luther King Jr. Exit.  We sit there for like an hour.  I told Mike to walk down the ramp and go get cash from McDonalds and I will meet him there as soon as I can.  Well he gets out walks down the ramp a block to the light 1/2 block to the McDonalds, stands in line to get the cash, gets outside and I am still in the same place I was when he left.  It was the worst traffic ever.  Meanwhile we are chatting with the girls and they are standing in the parking lot guarding a space for me.  Just as I the traffic starts to move, I get a call from the gals saying they are shutting down the parking lot so they can't hold my space anymore.  So I pick up Mike and start looking for Parking.  We end up parking on 42nd and end up walking to the start of the race.  Well believe it or not in the 54 million people that are there we find the girls.  I was shocked that we could do that but we did.    It was super crowded but fun.  THENNNNN...........

Naomi decides she wants to run!  This is her first 5K and she starts taking off like she is the Flash or something.  After about 5 blocks we start to threaten her that we are going to take the shuttle bus home if she does not slow down as we just could not keep up with her.  Jean was doing a great job keeping up with her until she saw this cute cop guy that she had to stop and flirt with!   Lori just gave up chasing Naomi and decided to focus on  taking photos of the great Victorian houses.  Finally Mike reminded Naomi that the rest of us gals are not a size 2 and we are not the spring chickens we used to be.  He also reminded her that when I run I get black eyes (If you know me you will understand this).  She finally decided o.k. fine and slows down.  I think she was running to make sure she could get close to Michael Bolton. (he is as cute as ever and looked so hot in his tight jeans).  Well we finished the race all arm and arm and it was a wonderful experience I got to share with the gals and my Michael.   The day ended wonderful with a nice lunch and then a calm drive home.  Thanks again gals for the wonderful day.  Lori thanks for driving with that bossy lady giving us directions.  Thanks Jean for making us laugh the whole way.  Thanks Naomi for keeping us going and Thanks my darling Michael for just being you!

OMG!!!! Sounds like you had a great time when you finally caught up with the girls. Oh Rhonda, I am so sorry for the rough start of your day, at least you made it to LA in one piece and you kiddos did a great job.

Jean, Naomi, Lori, Rhonda and Michael  congratulations on doing the Revlon Run. You guys ROCK. I am doing it next year with you all.

Girls, glad you made it home safe and had a good time. So glad you got to see sexy Michael Bolton.

OMG, you're right..."what a day"

What a inspiration you are for not giving up....I'm sorry you had such a rough start, but it sounds like it was all worth it and you guys had a great time.

Maybe I'll be able to join you guys next time...

OMG!  Rhonda, the tall tales you are telling!! Me, run?  I know your day started out horribly, but I am so glad you made it and yes, it was a miracle that we were able to find you and Mike.  Yesterday, was just the best.  Thank you and Mike for being there.  It was a day to remember.

Did I forget to tell you that Lu signed you up too!   she heard about you running the whole 5K and thought wow! we need this girl to motivate us up and down the hills of Oak Hills for 6 miles.  I think you should give her a call and confirm that you are coming!  I know Mike and I are going to be there.

Sounds like you had an adventurous day to say the least, but it's amazing that everyone found each other and you had a wonderful day in spite of it's start.  Good things happen to good people!

What an adventure!  Even with the "challenges" it sounds like you had a great time. Happy Mother's Day to one of the most wonderful "Mother" to sooo many others that I know!  Tom says to give your "kids" a hugh kiss as they don't realize how great they have it. You truly are an inspiration.
