Post op weight
The morning of surgery I weighed 217. I spent 2 days in the hospital. When I came home I weighed and it was 225. I already knew it was going to be much more than the morning of surgery so I didn't trip on it.
Here is my question: How long does it take get all the fluid and stuff they pumped into you at the hospital out of you? I eating the way I was instructed and walking and staying active (but not overdoing it).
thanks
Lisa

Lisa I lost 10.8 the week before surgery. The morning of surgery I was down another 5. After surgery they took me back to my room and weighted me and I was up 6 pounds. The nurse said it was all the fluids. Don't get on the scale every day. It will drive you nuts. Just do Sundays. That's the commitment I've made. And I'm sticking to it.
Good luck to you,
Nancy

Hi Lisa
I weighed 213 going into surgery...was 221 when I got home the next day (Tuesday)...took me about 5 days to get it all out of my system. but the more walking you do and getting in as much of your liquid as you can will help move it thru your body faster.
the most important thing right now is that you follow your docs instructions...and get the water and exercise in as much as you can...it's amazing how much it helps the healing process.

I have a really hard time with fluid retention. My WLS fluid gain took 10 days to 2 weeks to go away...and I was forbidden to take a diuretic...rightfully so. I was not allowed to resume them until I was 3 months post-op and drinking atleast 90 oz of water a day. Your fluid retention will leave your body as it adjusts to new and different intake of nutrition and liquids. Enjoy these first few weeks...do not stress yourself. Your main job is to not injure your pouch and to let it heal and learn its new job.

I weighed 12 pounds more when I got home today..Bummer but was expected. I am not even changing my ticker, because it is a very temporary thing, so I been told. I was quoted by week 2 it should be worked it's way through the body. So I guess I will wait and see. I am just happy I came home on no meds for any of my co~morbs!
