Post op...What foods get to you??
I'm cross posting this...Thought I would get a thread going about "not" goto foods. Just wondering those of you at least a few months post op, (it doesn't matter which surgery) what food don't sit well with you? What foods give you a hard time? A few of mine are all ham products. I can eat a small amount, but alot doesn't sit well. Also anything deep fried. The other is soft serve ice cream. For some reason I can eat small amounts of real ice cream. But the soft serve gives me a quick sugar and fat rush in my intestine that throws me for a loop. So post op...What gets to you?? Brian PS Most chinese food doesn't sit well either... PSS We have talked about this issue before...but for the new people they might like the info. B
I like seeing this thread every few months...this will be my first time being able to respond to it. I am almost 7 months post op RNY.
So far, nothing has made me go into dumping syndrome...everything stays put. I've chanced everything I can think of..I dunno if that is a good or bad thing to not dump. It just means I have to eat like any normal person and watch what I put in my mouth or it might end up on my hips again...lol However, as with so many WLS people, spicy foods hurt the minute I take a bite...even the least bit of spice is too uncomfortable. I am not a sissy-lala in spicy foods either..lol I used to love Fire-engine Chile and things like that! I tolerate all meats that I've always eaten...but steak has to be a tendercut.
Thanks again for posting this question...

I am 5 1/2 yrs. out and the only thing I cannot eat is honey. Anything with honey in it upsets my stomach. I can eat regular and even Frosted Cheerios but Honey Nut Cheerios make me sick. Granola bars with honey in them, BBQ sauces with honey, graham crackers all make me sick. Other than that I can eat anything.
Chinese food!! Yes!! I had some Panda Express at a catered lunch last week and I thought I was going to die. (It was somewhat healthy...considering what was offered. I had broccoli beef and a little fried rice.) Yuck!!
Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."
