Let's be real....
Hey Gus, Great topic! I am almost 9 months out. And I am 88 pounds down and feeling so much better than I did this time last year, I have 20 more to go. I eat real food... protein drinks gag me and bars **** off my pouch. LOL but on the days that I am short on protein grams I will do the shot thingies. I eat 4-6 times a day and if I don't I feel horrible. The 2 soft foods that do fill me up is Fage yogurt and cottage cheese. Yes, I have head hunger and it is a difficult battle some nights and I don't always win...I have always had night time head hunger. But I am learning to control it much better.
Thank you for sticking around the OH board, you and all the rest that are a year or more out. It really is good to get this kind of feed back from those of you that are at or close to goal.

I graze throughout the day. It is a real problem for me. I must maintain my exercise or hard work or I would regain quickly. Also I take Ambien CR almost nightly (sleeping problems for years). It gives me the munchies after a few hours. The only way I have learned to control it is by trying to go to my McDonalds Grilled Chicken Salad (with vinaigrette topping). Fill myself up with as many vegetables as I can during the night...Like the old diets we were on pre WLS. The problem is sometimes I will crave nachos...Bad move. Brian
Hey Gus,
I'm right there with you. I eat 5-6 meals a day and none of that soft stuff, I need real food to hold me over.
Thanks for the McDonalds idea. When I'm on the go I'll usually drive thru El Pollo Loco for a couple chicken legs but now I have another option.
Hope your doing well.....tell Anna hello for me.

Great topic, Gus!
I think I'm at the tail end of the "Honeymoon Period." I'm 15 months out and was in a stall from Xmas until about 2 weeks ago. I caused the stall because I wasn't being compliant! I learned my lesson, reevaluated my diet and realized that I too- need to do 6 meals a day. 2 of my meals are protein shakes because I like them. One I drink when I get up and the other- I have when I get to work in the evening. Then I have to have REAL, normal food the rest of the time or else I'm STARVIN MARVIN!
I had to change the times I ate and what I eat so I wouldn't get hungry and graze at work. Grazing at night was starting to become a habit. Now that my hours have changed (I work 8pm to 4:30am), I've tailored my diet to those hours and it's working out great.
Here's the funny thing...I read once that if you start eating healthier foods, you begin to crave them. I was like- "Bull" but low and behold- I crave my favorite creation of low carb yogurt, 100 calorie special k and strawberries...go figure, huh?
Anyway- I think it's always going to be a struggle for us, no matter what. If we call keep working on it, researching and sharing what we have found...we'll all be ok!
PS- bodybuilders.com IS a great site. So many great WLS friendly recipes, exercises and WL ideas on there!
