How to kindly tell someone they are getting old?

Dh is putting in the swamp cooler and lifted it just like he's done for the last three years...but this time he's seriously pulled the muscle in his left shoulder...He's feeling really old and bad...

How do you sooth a male ego and take care of him too?
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Well first off you never tell someone they are getting old, as old is relative.  I think what you do is tell him you want to give him a massage and just do that and tell him how wonderful he is and how much you love him. Show him he is the only one and you love him and adore him.  That is my advice.  Wishing you the best of luck.

Thanks for your insight...He's always saying he can do the same things he could do when he was 20 years old...So I'm trying to be very sensitive to that..He's doing better now. He's still very sore due to his injury this morning but we're pretty sure it's because he hasn't done any hard labor for a while and we figure he needs to work up to those jobs slowly. Basically, he's out of shape. We agree on that.

just tell him that this time he probably didn't have his body and weight in the right balance and that's why he pulled muscles...

We are flexible.

This morning his poor arm has a knot under the skin. You can SEE where the muscle either tore or something. He's still in alot of pain and won't be lifting or lifting his arm anytime soon. He realizes that he's getting older but there's just no telling him to slow down. He figures he's out of shape and needs to work harder to get into shape...sigh...that's been the story of his life.
