I could not be more bummed out!
Well the Geek Squad said that they could send it out somewhere that would cost me between $500 and $3000. I cannot afford that.
I had my hubby call and tell them to tell Sony that I want my old hard drive back, but they said they do not know if they will send it. Lets hope!!
Thanks!

My husband lost his external hard drive...same place he saves all his train pictures. Same thing about the signal not being sent....of couse, I don't understand it but he did. Anyway, find a data restore outfit..an independent guy (like Lon did) or some company. Geek Squard will charge you for THEM finding the outfit to save your data; look in the yellow pages..they should be listed there. Good Luck!

Your best bet would be to either google "data recovery" or go old school and Yellow Page it. Just because your hard drive is not giving any signals, does not mean it's not working. The crash could have knocked something loose, and a quick solder may be the fix. Anything's possible, but a data recovery specialist may be the best thing; just don't go through Geek Squad.

Rock
You know Rock I cannot understand why they could not recover it. I am no techie, but it seems to me that I am wondering if they get some sort of a kick back from the company they use.
I am really hoping that Sony sends me the hardrive back so I can explore other options....I just have to figure out how much those pictures and journals mean to me...a lot, but not the prices they quoted!
Thanks for input!
