I received a call from my PCP this morning and she said that it has been confirmed, I have gallstones and my gallbladder will have to be removed....She is going to put in the referral today to see if my insurance will approve me to go back to my RNY surgeon to remove it, but she wasn't sure if they will.  I should know something next week. I'll tell you, I am not happy to have surgery again. I was hoping that my next surgery was going to be an enhancement, not another removal.

I told my DH that pretty soon I am going to have to remove the little pink donor dot on my driver's license, because I am not going to have anything to donate...they keep taking things out of me one at a time. LOL

I'll keep you posted to what is next!!!

So sorry to hear that.  What we are not told is that it is very common to have to have yur gallbladder removed because of the weightloss.  I don't know why they just dn't take it out when they do the surgery.  I have lived without one prior to surgery.  You can expect probably alot less pain with this than your RNY!

Keeping you in my prayers and thoughts.

Love you, Diane

Yes I do exist.  Somedays less than others but I am here.  I have been really busy, I have seen NO ONE.  Been just too busy for live, and then of course I get these cranky ass moods where I want to bite someone's head off, and this is not a pretty picture.  Things are good other than that.  I look forward to seeing everyone soon.

Diane, the failure!

Awww..that stinks! I hope everything goes good, so you can feel better. I need to have a gallbladder ultrasound too. I am hoping, I won't have to have mine out.

Take Care,

Julie

AS a general rule, the gallbladder is checked out prior to surgery. If warranted, it would be removed at the time of surgery. I've gone to 3 support meetings a month for most of my 2 years post op, and have heard of 2 patients who developed stones after their RNY surgery.  Good luck. DAVE

Thank you everyone!!!  I did have my galbladder checked out prior to surgery and they did find stones.  My surgeon did get the approval to remove the gallbladder prior to surgery, but when he went in to do the gastric bypass he could not get to it due to an enlarged liver and he said that we would watch it and after a year we would talk about it...we'll a year came and gone and no problems...and I seriously thought the gallstone went away...NO!!!!

Thanks again....

Hugs, Michele

Michele:

The way do galbladders sugery now is much easier on the patient than it was when 27 yrs ago.  They do lapriscopically and you up and about in a few days.  I understand about them taking one piece at a time, lol.  You can function with out it.  Since I had mine out (4 weeks post partum) I have been able to eat what ever I did before.
Of course now I am trying to work eating the way I should after my RNY.  GOOD LUCK and HUGS from Baltimore.
